I've been studying for the TEAS for a few months now. I take it at the end of May. Another school popped up on my radar and I decided to apply. They want the HESI (with NO science at all). They want it ASAP of course, so I'm taking it next Saturday.Should I study specifically for the HESI or is my TEAS knowledge going to be sufficient? FutureNurseInfo 1,093 Posts Has 1 years experience. Mar 26, 2017 I will be taking both exams soon as well, and was told that HESI is a bit harder than TEAS. However, since you said that there is no science tested in HESI you will be taking, I think you should be fine.
N. Maren 122 Posts Specializes in Critical Care. Mar 27, 2017 The math, grammar, and reading on the HESI is like the usual stuff that you've seen in high school standardized tests. There won't be anything that's weirdly HESI-specific for those sections that you will have to specifically study.

Mar 27, 2017 Well, I was replying with regards to ItsThatJenGirl's situation of not having to take the science portions on the HESI, but yes I think I would prefer the HESI. To me, the science on the HESI felt a bit easier than on the TEAS, but I think that's just my personal preference.

Mar 27, 2017 Back when I was applying to bridge programs a bunch wanted HESI & a few wanted TEAS. So I figured why not just study for both with the HESI book, how different can they be? I didn't do great on the TEAS because they were different enough.I know the TEAS has changed since then but I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket & study for the HESI by using the TEAS material. I did & it didn't get me far. I know English, math, & reading is all the same material but how they word it on the exam can always be different.Good luck!

Both tests I studied about a week or two in advance. I took the HESI first and scored a 95.7% on it. I thought it was incredibly straightforward, my lowest score was reading with a 90% (my score was a little inflated from the science section since that was my highest score, but you won't have that on your HESI). I just took the TEAS exam two weeks ago and scored a 89%. While the TEAS exam was easier than I thought it would be, I do believe it was more difficult than the HESI, although it has similar questions and content. This score was perhaps lower than I should have gotten though as my lowest section score was reading at a 74 (must have fallen asleep for that section)! All my other scores except science were a tad lower than on the HESI.I don't know what study materials you are using but I think the Pocketprep App is a great resource for additional practice, especially for the HESI. For both tests this was my primary resource to figure out what I needed to review and get a better grasp of in a short period of time. Overall though, if you feel confident in your ability to do well on the TEAS, I would not worry about studying specifically for the HESI this week. Chances are you'll just be going over the same material you already have.

However, in my area, all the colleges that have BSN programs require the TEAS, whereas the ADN programs in quiet farm-like towns nearby(ish) require the HESI. Based on this discovery, my personal assumption is that the TEAS is the "real deal," as far as toughness goes. Again, this is just my assumption. I never did end up taking the HESI so I can't be certain.If you're scoring that well on your practice exams, that's awesome!How'd the HESI go for you? I hope you did well!
