HESI Score vs HESI Conversion Score

HESI Score vs HESI Conversion Score

Hey all, I'm new here but have been lurking since I started school a few months ago.

I just took my first HESI exam for fundamentals and was wondering how the HESI score relates to the HESI conversion score.

My conversion score was an 84.15%, and my HESI score was 905. I'm pretty happy with those results. After talking to a few people I can't for the life of me figure out how the scoring works. Here are a few peoples grades that I talked to

73.9% - 854

74.1% - 756

78% - 946

80% - 803

83% - 980

84.15% - 905

I am really confused by this. How does someone get a 73.9% and get an 854, while someone else gets a 74.1% and gets a 756. Also seems weird to me that a 78% can get a 946, while an 84.15% gets 905. Can anyone answer this?

HESI assigns weights to questions -- the more "difficult" a question is deemed to be the more weight it has in the scoring process... since no one but HESI knows the particular questions and their assigned weights, there is no way to rationalize a HESI score with a conversion score.

Yes this is common...that's what I was attempting to point out.. it is common for 2 students to get the same HESI score and that their conversion score to be widely different because of the question weights. In my experience there is no evident rhyme or reason to predicting the scores....

Not sure why score for you are like that. Our scoring system was as follows:

Dear students,

Here is the percentage conversion for your HESI proctored exam, please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns.

§  More than 1100 – 100%

§  1001-1099 – 95%

§  901-1000 – 90%

§  851-900 – 80%

§  850 – 75%

§  751-849 – 70%

§  Less than 750- 60%

I'm in an LPN program and this was given to us first semester.

I guess every school graded HESI scores differently. I scores 905 on HESI and school covert my scores to 79.2.

The conversion scored is also measured in the same way though. maybe I should have asked this: Has anyone else noticed a higher conversion score than someone else, but a lower HESI score?

So is the status score that shows directly after you test is that your actual HESI score or will that be different in the final report?

Hi, did you figure out the answer to this? My professor did not release grades due to some students in my cohort not taking the exam yet due to Covid. Hoping my score goes up some!! TIA!
