I would really appreciate any/all input from nurses who have taken the Hesi exit exam and passed!

In Texas we cannot apply for state boards until we have passed this test.....:confused: and in dire straits..thanks MaresRN2B

I too have taken the HESI twice and 825/798 later, I await the verdict from the school here in South Texas to attempt once again. I would love to hear of your outcome and perhaps recieve an email from you at [email protected] I hope you suceeded. My Paramedic husband says he is my best friend and no matter how I feel about failing my family and him, he is strong and continues to support me emotionally and in no way blames me for my "not" passing status. "Such is life and keep on trying", he states. "You fall and falter, pick yourself up, dust your butt and knees and try again. Life continues, with or without you":bugeyes:. I had very good grades but that was of no use to me in the HESI. Sigh!

I just passed HESI on Monday:).

This test is not about what you know, is about how well you can handle stress, especially if you need to pass HESI in order to graduate.

Actually, I'm not sure if this is a new rule that you can not take the nclex unless you pass the hesi. Or it may just be that your school does not allow you to graduate unless you pass the hesi? Because I live in Texas, graduated a year ago, failed the hesi, but passed the nclex....

In Chicago, the City Colleges make us take HESI in order to graduate, that way they can assure that the students who take NCLEX pass. Truman College, where I went for nursing had a 100% passing rate on NCLEX two years ago, and I believe a 98% last year.

This year, on Monday 27 people out of 78 failed HESI.

The person who did HESI review for us was from Oregon end there HESI is just a 20 % of the final grade. In Chicago we have to score 870 or above on HESI, but during the HESI review we were told that just for HESI you need 850, and that it was our school rule to change that to 870. I think that in every state it may be a slight difference, since the schools make the rules about it.

I heard so much about the Hesi Exit exam that it drove me crazy.

I took it 3 weeks ago and passed it the first time with a score of 986.

I thought it was a decent exam, almost easier than I anticipated.

I did a lot of NCLEX questions to prepare for it but I especially used the Saunders book to review material.

now, over half of my class did not pass it and that was really hard for me knowing my friends had to study for another month to take it again.

I did use Saunders 3rd edition ( blue cover), Hesi book, also along the way I did use the Hogan book, which a lot of my classmates finds very helpful.

I did NCLEX 3500 questions, that helps a lot too. Believe in yourself!!!!

This is what you need, tell yourself that you will pass, you will be successful. This is very important, you went through the nursing program you have all you need to pass the test. I wish you the best of luck!!!!!:up:

I would recommend using the Saunders book as well. I don't see how anyone could have taken the test in 20 minutes because there were 160 or so questions! I think the test was fairly hard and I am an A/B+ student.

I have graduated as a nurse with an associate degree in Dallas. I would appreciate if any input for campus classes for preparing for the RN examinations is available in dallas. I have been trying to find out if anybody is offering campus classes for preparing to take the RN NCLEX EXAMINATION, but no luck. Any input or help would greatly be appreciated.:bluecry1::banghead:

FYI we have to take the HESI for all the ememnts in school. I passed my two year review Hesi all i used to study was evolve Hesi NCLEX study book 2008.

It is a good resource for this test and the NCLEX. It even has a HESI practice test in the book.

My school required us to pass the HESI-Exit with an 850 in order to receive our diploma at graduation (if you don't pass, you can still walk but there is nothing in the folder :madface:.) I passed with a 978. I didn't kill myself studying, but I used a review book put out by HESI that our school provided, as well as the Saunders book. I would just primarily do review questions on your weak areas (for me, our more recent critical care course & my work as a tech on a medical unit reinforced med surg for me, but maternity felt like ages ago so i did lots of maternity questions). I haven't taken NCLEX yet, but since they've instituted the HESI, the NCLEX pass rate has been quite high for us.

I just took mine yesterday. It was a requirement to take before graduation but it didn't matter what you got on it. We took it 2 days after our final so I can speak for myself that my brain was fried! I got a 749 and I was trying not to fall asleep during it. I was so tired from the previous days of studying for the final that i still needed to catch up on my sleep.

I just took my exit exam today and scored a 988!!! We could not get our diplomas without passing it (850), but our instructor suggested we go through the graduation ceremony and come back a week later when we're relaxed and fresh to take the test. So far all my classmates are getting 900's.

I just used the HESI cd since I did not have the book. However its more about learning how they ask the questions than studying facts. Good luck:up:
