Achieve test prep?
Don't do it, just go to the community college or find a real nursing program. I tried ATP, it was too expensive, the cost was not explained until AFTER I signed up and it costs you to unenroll once you have signed up. All in all, they have some very questionable business practices you don't want to be dealing with. I haven't taken a class with them in over a year and I'm still trying to pay them off so I can drop from their program. Avoid ATP at all cost.

Hesi Exit Exam-RN exit exam
Thanks!! I can't really explain it without putting the question and answer choices up, which is a big no no (copyright) all I can suggest is to find someone with the book or buy one. Fortunately my class mate could not use her cd. Sorry wish I could be of more help.

LPN to RN programs IN St Louis, mo
Yeah that's what I found out after I got my associates, I was in management but then the state changed its requirements(you have to be an RN) and I was out of a job. That's how I ended up going to nursing school. I checked Excelsior first and at about $10g you can't beat it, however I still would have to make arangements for travel to do the clinicals this is my major concern with Excelsior; my oldest daughter is mentally disabled and I already feel guilty about my husband having to do so much the last three years because I was in school. Since it's only been a week since graduation I've got time, I just like to know what my options are. Thanks for your input all info is greatly appreciated.

Student needing LOTS of guidance/advice!
great advice. when i started school i had my mind made up i was going into mental health. in mental health clinic i was cowering in a corner when one of the patients went bezerker, in surgery clinical i was suffocating and all i could think about was "god my nose itches...is that a machete?", i almost passed out in the wound clinic when they started scraping, but hey i really shined in med surg. anticipating needs and working with post op is where i do my best. pretty far from psych huh? wait awhile, the reality of clinicals will be valuable.

No BS, I have an AA in Health Services Administration, and I looked into ISU and although they only offer the LPN to BSN I'm waiting for a counselor to call me back.

LPN to RN programs IN St Louis, mo
Thanks BBFRN, I read that in the other posts also. I'm not going to use TCN just really wanted to hear what he had to say. My husband got laid off (Chrysler closed) so I have to work full time which is why I was trying to find a distance learning program. Did my AA HSA online but having to log in at certain times may be a problem with having to work. Really looking for advice and options, Excelsior would be okay accept for traveling for the clinicals and I don't know if I'm ready for the BSN program. Most of my credits are in business which means I'd have to do alot of GE's since my LPN is from a tech school. Thanks in advance for any input.

LPN to RN programs IN St Louis, mo
Amee37: I just graduated as an LPN from a Tech school and I had a few questions. How long did you wait before you went back to school? Did you find any other programs in St. Louis or online? I spoke with advisor from College Network and he said the program is through Excelsior, is this the program your doing? Are the modules difficult to get through? Does your job help you at all? Any advice you can give me would be greatly apprciated, we're already in the hole by $40G for my education so far and I really want to make a good choice.

So stressed out :(
jamie-sue, relax. i am a recent grad but boy!!! do i remember those first three months! i thought i would never remember all that stuff but i would find myself rehashing the lecture in my mind. you remember more than you think you do. don't waste your time on stuff you already know, quick review and then move on to the topics you don't know or are having trouble with. ask questions, all nurses love to teach and many may have a way of explaining a topic that totally clicks for you. if you have a test in fundies in two days don't split that study time with something your testing on in a week. four straight hours of study will burn you out, break it up, move around. with a&p my silly husband and children would walk around with labels on their bodies, by the time i took the test all i could see was the placement of those labels. try to find creative ways to get the info in, if your having fun you will remember, trust me. and most important : always always always follow your first mind. don't change any answers unless you are willing to bet your first born on it. stay focused, stay calm, stay at it. you can do it!!!!!

Stressed student needs guidance
I agree, while I was in school the first thing I did after getting the syllabus was outline the chapters. Read the chapter summaries and questions, then go back to whatever you didn't get or are a little vague on. No sense reading 30 pages of stuff you already know. Fundamentals is basically common sense, if you know the why of it you can figure out the rest. No advice for Pharm though (sorry:imbar) all I can say is flashcards-flashcards-flashcards!!!! Whatever you do don't get yourself all in a tizzy over tests, I cannot tell you how many of my classmates did poorly on tests not because they didn't know the answers but because they were basket cases by the time we took the test. Calm down, focus, stick to your study schedule you will do fine.

No money to pay for NCLEX
The GN programs here in St. Louis are for the RN's, I'm a LPN right now, however I did finally find a job at a nearby nursing home and thanks be praised!!! they are willing to not only pay for my bopards but my Kaplan course as well. To all stay positive, it seems things have a way of working themselves out.

I just used the HESI cd since I did not have the book. However its more about learning how they ask the questions than studying facts. Good luck:up:

Hesi Exit Exam-RN exit exam
I just took my exit exam today and scored a 988!!! We could not get our diplomas without passing it (850), but our instructor suggested we go through the graduation ceremony and come back a week later when we're relaxed and fresh to take the test. So far all my classmates are getting 900's.
