I would really appreciate any/all input from nurses who have taken the Hesi exit exam and passed!
In Texas we cannot apply for state boards until we have passed this test..... and in dire straits..thanks MaresRN2B
I did Hesi...ANd I did nothing else for the 30days prior to the test. We would not recieve our BSN...30,000 in student loans BSN if we did not pass. We had two attempts and if we failed you would repeat the Senior synthesis course the following semester (while everyone else graduated) and have 2 more attempts. If you failed again, bye bye BSN...I passed with an 1167...by the Grace of God. But we did so many practice questions that we saw similar if not exact questions at times. Not many but a few...so anyone taking hesi, do those evole cases studies, so the CD that comes with the book and pay attention during the weekend review!! And pray!!!
i wish you luck!
in my adn program we were required to take (and pass) the ati predictor exam. in preparation for this exam, i just took every ati exam that i could and tried to retain all the information from reading the rationales. all that i can recommend is do as many practice tests/questions as you can!
In my LVN program we are required to take the Hesi Exit exam as well. We were told it's an excellent predictor of how we will do on the NCLEX but my instructor said that most people who have taken both tell her that the Hesi is actually harder than the NCLEX.
I have no idea about a min. score requirement...yet. I really hope they don't spring a certain passing score on us at the last minute.... I'm in semester 2 of 3 and have been studying my NCLEX-PN books since the beginning. I've found that it really helped me to understand and embrace the critical thinking skills essential to do well in my program.
I have one or two of the recent practice books but will pick up just about anything that says "NCLEX" on it whether it be RN or PN (LVN)...I don't care if it's from 2010 or 2000...the idea is to learn the material yes, but also to learn what to expect as far as format and test taking skills.
I'm going to ask what my instructor recommends as far as the HESI exit study materials and work on that...certainly can't hurt!

My school requires us to pass in one of three ways:
1. Get a 900 or above on the HESI and a 45 on the Exit Kaplan
2. Get an 850 or above on the HESI and a 65 on the Exit Kaplan
3. Get two 850's on HESI
We get one shot at the Exit Kaplan and three chances on the HESI.
I took the first HESI today and got an 895. (Which means I will need
to get a 65 on the Exit Kaplan, or take a second HESI). I studied the
Kaplan RN-Course Book, did Kaplan QBank and Focused Review tests
as well as the HESI CD.
I did not spend weeks studying. I did 200 questions one weekend
prior to the test, and then I did an intensive study review after class
Friday and all of Saturday and Sunday. The exam was today (Monday morning).
