Hello Everyone,

I will be joining this March 8th, 2021 (PMHNP post master's certificate program). I am scheduled to take advanced patho and advanced pharma together at the same time. I work part time...are those 2 doable at the same time? Is it going to be crazy? I am totally OK with Bs but do not want to be crazy stressed (just moved so my batteries are a bit low). How many hours a week did you devote to each of these classes? Thank you and all the best on your journey.

Hi I am joining the MSN-FNP program in March and I assume that it the curriculum study time wise may be similar, the PowerPoint my admissions advisor sent me said that we need to expect to devote at least 20-25 hours  a week to discussions, writing, and studying. I also did a lot of research on how these programs work! It’s good to keep your grades high for the easier assignments in the beginning so when it comes to the very difficult assignments you have some room mess up a little if need be.

Thank you, dear One. That is a great tip to try to get high points at the beginning so that I do not have to work so hard at the end of the class. My advisor said 10-15 hours a week, so that is my plan (at max:). Just hoping its doable. I was thinking about going with Walden but their postmasters is still not accredited and they are under DOJ criminal investigation specifically for their nursing programs so that can be a bit tricky. All the best on your journey and lets keep in touch. Jari

Oh that’s even better! You most likely will be able to work full/ part time!I've read that even with 20-25 hours a week students are able to work full time and get A’s. So it seems doable.
I almost went with either Walden or chamberlain and I didn’t go with Walden for the exact reason although their program sounded great!
chamberlain students seemed very unhappy and very stressed.
A coworker is also doing the program with me, so definitely try and make some connections if possible for support! Good luck on your journey, I’m sure you’ll do great!

I think we will both rock.

How did you learn about Walden s accreditation difficulties and criminal investigations? They didn't tell me. It was a fellow student on this site that gave me heads up.

Hello,

Wanting to get feed back on program for PMHNP. I got my masters for FNP from Herzing and now thinking of moving forward for PMHNP program.

Would really appreciate pros and cons of program. Also, do you get credit for any classes,  you may have already taken for FNP program.

Thank you and greatly appreciate any information given.

Hi all!

I just graduated with my MSN in nursing education, not NP. I am considering the online post-master's certificate in PMHNP at Herzing. I'm currently working fulltime as a nursing instructor. How are you all doing so far? Thanks for the feedback. I may start after the Holidays. Are you able to continue working fulltime?

It's really strange to me that becoming a healthcare provider is something people just do in their spare time online while still working full-time. You can't honestly think that a program that easy would prepare you?

Hi! Thanks for your response! To better clarify for you, MentalKlarity (love the username!), I have a MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and worked in community mental health for 15 years before going to nursing school in my 40's.  I worked almost exclusively in psych nursing as well as addictions with the exception of 5 years early on in my career where I worked in cardiac telemetry and ICU. I also always wanted to teach. I probably did things a little backwards by getting my MSN in nursing education and then considering the post-master's certificate in PMHNP, but oh, well. And I always worked fulltime throughout nursing school. I guess I'm OK with that because I don't have children. I work and study. Online school is wonderful! But there are also the clinical hours that must be satisfied. As a PMHNP you know what I'm talking about! I've been working for 6 months as a nursing instructor teaching nursing fundamentals and love it, but I do miss psych! I believe my extensive psych background will serve me well as I pursue my post-master's certificate in my "spare time"!
