Anderson University (AU) - DNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Updated:   Published

Anyone applied to for fall 2023, or completed Anderson University (SC) PMHNP program? I was accepted and was looking to either connect with prospective classmates for any advice (positive or negative) thank you!

Hi Staypositiveabsn, I was recently accepted into the PMHNP program at AU as well. Have you had any recent communication after accepting?

Hi! Congrats on your acceptance! I have gotten emails from the school regarding required background check, etc., but other than that, I haven't heard from prior students, or found anything online. I wanted to get a feel for the program, what intensives are like, and how hard finding preceptors will be, but have zero information LOL. How about you?

Congratulations to you as well! Thanks! I haven't had any other communication after my acceptance. I've been checking the portal everyday ?. I was told they will assist with finding you a preceptor where you reside.  I'm in Georgia. How about you? I may need to contact admissions to see why my background information wasn't requested.

I see the email about clinical's, background check, etc were sent on the 22nd (2 days ago). They didn't request background checks, it looks like we call them ourselves and they provide who to call, but I haven't done it yet. I can forward it to you if you send me a message with your info ? I do see a lot of students attached to that same email chain. Are you at least registered for classes? I've also been bothering my advisor with a lot of questions and maybe that's why! LOL I did hear they help with clinical placement but if you read the clinical handbook it sounds like a lot of the weight is on you. One current student got back to me while in their FNP program and said they really like AU, but said finding a preceptor is actually very hard. Currently I'm in another compact state finishing a travel RN contract, so I'll be moving to either SC, GA, or FL soon depending on everything. But I won't be established with any connections or networking for preceptors. ?

I was thinking of making a FB page for anyone in the cohort if it'll help ?

Oh wow! I haven't registered for any classes nor have I been assigned to an advisor. I did reach out today to get some updates but with it being late in the day, I may not get a response until tomorrow. I guess I need to start working on finding a preceptor now.  Please forward any information you have to [email protected].  My name is Asia. Thanks in advance.

Creating a FB group would be awesome!

Hello,

So glad to have come across your comments! Have you both completed AU PMHNP program yet? If so, how was it? I am currently thinking about applying. I just wanted to understand how the entire program works. How does the hybrid work? I saw on the information package that was sent to me that each semester is 16 weeks long and every semester student have to come to campus for "meet ups" how does that work and what do they do at these "meet ups?" I would appreciate any advice and information any of you could provide. Thank you!

Also, have y'all started the Facebook group? If so, what is the name? I checked on Facebook and I did not see it. Thanks!
