So I have read some pretty horrible reviews about Herzing and it is pretty scary, however, I am about to start my journey with Herzing in August and I want to give the school a fair chance. Yes it is expensive to attend but Florida is embarking on this progress where hospitals are having/requiring magnet status which means that RNs need to have a Bachelor degree. Herzing does not have a waiting list so if you meet the qualifications, you are good to go. My goal is to post weekly or monthly updates on the progress to provide real up-to-date experiences that will either justify the complaints I have read or shed light on more updated information as to how the program is currently. I can confirm, however, that the school is accredited and their NCLEX pass rates are pretty high. I suggest you go to whatever state board of nursing website that applies to your state and research for yourselves so you can see where the school stands. Looking forward to reading your comments!
Hello! I am starting the accelerated nursing program in September. How are you liking Herzing?
Hi Nursinghopeful5,
I start some pre-reqs on March 7th and will start the program in September as well. I have a friend who just graduated from their program in October 2015, says its intense but truly worth it all.
Yes I'm taking some beginning in May. But I'm doing them online. I'll begin the nursing courses in September. How about you?
Yes, I start on March 7 for pre-reqs and the program in September doing the night program. I have 1 course on campus and the rest are online. Here's my email [email protected] and let's keep in touch.
Hello, I haven't been on here in a while because I've been busy with school, work and family. However, in regards to the accelerated program I must say I like it so far. This is how my schedule has been:
-started the program September 2015 with 1 class (Nursing 1) for 8 weeks
-term 2, I had Nursing 2 and nursing informatics
-term 1 (spring semester) I'm in nursing 3 (med surg)
-term 2 (this semester) I will start nursing 5 (OB) and have nursing Pathophysiology, global nursing and community health nursing.
I know it sounds like a lot but the set up of classes are designed to be manageable so we can actually be successful.
I will say that we have lost people from Nursing 3 because Medsurg is no joke but if you study hard, apply yourself and practice LOTS of NCLEX questions, you give yourself a fair chance of passing.
Many motivation is knowing that on December 21, 2016, I will be done with the program and can finally go and sit for the NCLEX and start a career in nursing !
Hi Squidbillies,
I'm currently doing the pre-reqs. Can you elaborate on your experience with Herzing? Please feel free to reply here or email me at [email protected]
I was ready to sign up for classes and was working out my financial aid. I spoke with four different people and they each gave me four different amounts as to what the tuition is. Hey also gave me completely different figures as to how much financial aid I was eligible for. It went from $4000 to $18000 that I needed to come out of pocket. That seemed extreme and frankly unacceptable. I didn't want to be hit with a surprise bill in the thousands as a nursing student. That combined with the terrible reviews caused me to withdraw my application. I have decided to not attend Herzing. I ended up getting into a great program in NY that would surprisingly cost me a lot less. Good luck to everyone here.

Hello Scjj0223
Good to hear from a graduate of HU. What materials are you using to study for the Kaplan test?
