Nursing Students School Programs

Published

So I have read some pretty horrible reviews about Herzing and it is pretty scary, however, I am about to start my journey with Herzing in August and I want to give the school a fair chance. Yes it is expensive to attend but Florida is embarking on this progress where hospitals are having/requiring magnet status which means that RNs need to have a Bachelor degree. Herzing does not have a waiting list so if you meet the qualifications, you are good to go. My goal is to post weekly or monthly updates on the progress to provide real up-to-date experiences that will either justify the complaints I have read or shed light on more updated information as to how the program is currently. I can confirm, however, that the school is accredited and their NCLEX pass rates are pretty high. I suggest you go to whatever state board of nursing website that applies to your state and research for yourselves so you can see where the school stands. Looking forward to reading your comments!

Hello, I haven't been on here in a while because I've been busy with school, work and family. However, in regards to the accelerated program I must say I like it so far. This is how my schedule has been:

-started the program September 2015 with 1 class (Nursing 1) for 8 weeks

-term 2, I had Nursing 2 and nursing informatics

-term 1 (spring semester) I'm in nursing 3 (med surg)

-term 2 (this semester) I will start nursing 5 (OB) and have nursing Pathophysiology, global nursing and community health nursing.

I know it sounds like a lot but the set up of classes are designed to be manageable so we can actually be successful.

I will say that we have lost people from Nursing 3 because Medsurg is no joke but if you study hard, apply yourself and practice LOTS of NCLEX questions, you give yourself a fair chance of passing.

Many motivation is knowing that on December 21, 2016, I will be done with the program and can finally go and sit for the NCLEX and start a career in nursing !

Glad to hear that you are doing great so far. I'm looking into started in Sept but I was anxious because off all the bad reviews online. It's good to get a current student's opinion about the program. Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking into starting in Sept as well and have an appointment with an advisor. Any ideas on how much the program cost?

Hi Magz89,

If Im not mistaken its $8725 per semester. It is expensive but with the help of scholarships it can help offset some of the cost. When is your appointment?

Hi,

I am currently interested in the accelerated BSN program at Herzing University. I just spoke with an advisor who told me that the cost per semester for tuition is 8,725, but there is also a fee so the total comes to around $9,150 a semester. She told me that that you are eligible for 1,800 that they give you for the last 3 semesters if you stick with the program.

My appointment was today and I will be going further with the program. I will be talking professional development and information literacy in September then the core courses in January. I work for FH and will be getting a discount. My appointment was very informative and make me feel better about the reviews online. I know it won't be easy but I'm willing to work hard and get it done!

Hi Dpauly96, I have been attending Herzing since September 2015. I will say it has been a journey. There have been many changes and the requirements for the course is very demanding. I believe that as students, we get out what we put in. Therefore, if we do not put forth the genuine effort to succeed, we are liable to fail. Many of the negative reviews are partially true, however, WE are in control of our education. No one can do anything to take that away from us. Regardless of the staff at Herzing (good/bad/ugly), if we do what is required....WE WILL SUCCEED! I refuse to blame my short comings on the actions of someone else. I am the type of person that ALWAYS evaluates my role: Did I do my best?, Did I forget an Assignment, ETC. Some people fail classes because of a tenth of a point and complain about it, yet they didn't do an assignment that was worth 1 point. Hope you see where I'm coming from

Can Information Literacy be take online?

I've only heard of it online

I'm signed up for the following courses starting Fall 2016. Could someone please share your experience? All are "on-ground" on my schedule.

What are the requirements to get into the FL Accelerated BSN program?

I'm assuming you would need all the prerequisites such as A&P 1, 2 and Micro?

ABSN requires you to have a Bachelor Degree already. It's a second degree program.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen. About 16 years ago I posted about my upcoming journey through Herzing. Here is my analysis:

-Herzing is tough yet doable

-I completed the Accelerated BSN program 12/21/2016 (on time without repeating a class)

-there were times I thought I couldn't make it but I did

-the instructors made themselves available. Some you absolutely loved and others have to grow on you.

-in the end, all the headache and stress was well worth it.

-I received my authorization to test around 1/3/17 and took NCLEX on 1/11/17. Computer shut off at 75 questions. Found out I passed 1/12/17 and I am now a Registered Nurse

-being a BSN student, I was able to challenge the LPN boards because they offer this option to BSN students

-took and passed the PN boards in Novemeber with the minimum amount of questions required (85) so I have two Nursing licenses

-BTW, the school pays for both NCLEX applications the first time

-I have gotten multiple job offers and hospitals love Herzing Students ;)

-Overall I highly recommend the school because it truly prepares you for the world of nursing and passing the NCLEX
