Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Let me take a deep breath. Here is my story. When I first started school I partied a lot. Which really affect my attendance. Due to that, I failed A/P1 once. At the same time, I had already sign up for A/P2 and forgot to drop. I when to Europe. This summer I took both class and received Ain all. I just found out that, the Bs school I want to go to don't accept repeats. I don't know what to do. Should I look for a different major, since i screwed myself up. Any help and ideas ?

Is that the ONLY school anywhere near you? I am very fortunate that there are >8 schools that have a nursing program, albeit not all of them are BSN. Most are ASN. If that's the only school with BSN consider going to comm.coll. to get your ASN. At least you'll get to be an RN and you can do the RN-BSN bridge afterward. Best of Luck

I would look at other schools. I failed A & P once because I took it over the summer with a rough professor while also taking chemistry. I am retaking it now & have an A. I won't even look at another school that won't accept my repeat because that's a waste of time for me to apply. And I am not going to change my major. I recommend staying with nursing and just applying elsewhere.

Chose another school

Just start looking at other schools. Just make sure they are accredited by NLN or CCNE and have good NCLEX pass rates.

I would definitely compromise on the school.

Did you take that A&P class at the same school that you are applying to? The reason that I ask is that if the school that you took the class at has a grade forgiveness policy, then you need to get a copy of your transcripts. I purposefully failed Stats when I knew I would not get the grade that I needed in the class. Because there was a grade forgiveness policy, my transcript just shows an R for the first Stats class and an A for the second one. The BSN program that I was accepted to also just takes your first attempt grades but DID take the A for Stats. What I am trying to say is.... Do not count yourself out! If you do not apply, they can't turn you down or accept you.

So get a look at you official transcripts and apply anyway.

If you're talking four year schools, is there an ability to start at one school and then transfer over to the one you want?

I took it at a community college. I'm planning to just apply and she what happens. My other option is to take pharmacology and some hard classes, then apply to a different school. My GPA is currently 3.5. My plan is to get a 4.0 this semester and then just apply on the spring, for different schools. To increase my chance maybe.

I was thinking of that too. Thanks, will keep you guys posted.

I would call them and see what they say. If they say you can't use those classes (I can't imagine that would be true) then ask if you can take them there, or go to a different school. Good luck!

msmartel bee- I also went to a Community College to get all my pre-req's completed and that's where I took the Stats class that I purposefully failed. When I used the grade forgiveness, the first grade was not used in calculating my GPA. So you may still have a good chance of getting into the program that you want. Personally, I applied to both the ADN program at the Community College that I got my AA and the BSN program that I was accepted to. I really only wanted to go for my BSN but wanted to at least have another option just in case. Thankfully, I was accepted into the BSN program that I wanted!

Good luck on getting in!!
