Hello

I am a student at Rockland community College in New York

I am trying to chalange Medical Surgcail and Psychactric Nursing.

I need some help with this is there anyone out there that cna help me in any way any way i am desparate for help

Did you mean 'challenge'? As in you want to test out of the class? I don't believe that would be possible. Nursing classes require clinical time as well as the class time.

Good luck!

Not only would it not be possible, it would be dangerous. Yeeks!

Have you tried speaking to an advisor at your school to find out how to go about doing this? Good Luck!

You should seriously think about taking those classes again. They will be most beneficial to you and all your future patients.

I can't see an accredited program allowing students to test out of core nursing courses. Who is evaluating your technical progress and your overall critical thinking and knowledge base? If this is really the case it is DANGEROUS. MA's and CNA's can't test out of the LPN core courses (nor should they be able to), LPN's should not be testing out of RN courses, RN's should not be testing out of NP courses and so on and so forth. There is a lot of in depth material to be learned. I guess if this is really possible what you need to do is get the text books used in that specific class and program and study the reading.

I see nothing wrong with LVNs testing out of first year courses, but the idea of challenging an entire block like that makes me nervous.

I don't expect LVNs to repeat the first year of an RN program if it is a program where the first year is the lvn year and those students could test for LPN after the first year. That wouldn't make any sense because it is just a repeat of classes. But this doesn't sound like what the OP is talking about because why would testing out of LPN year classes be necessary if the OP is already an LPN? I have a problem with testing out of RN/second level core classes. It doesn't seem safe.

I think that's what I said......

OK so we are in agreement.

I remember, the LPN's that joined my RN class for our second year had to challenge 1st year content and pass as well as complete a summer "transition" course. Most States allow Excelsior graduates who do not complete clinical hours in the traditional sense, they pretty much challenge all nursing exams then do a big clinical performance exam at the end.

But that's a whole other thing (I think).

Sorry to the OP, I'm afraid I can't help you.
