HELP!! Nursing prereqs for Morton College and JJC...

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello! I am new to this forum and am frustrated in my attempt to become a nurse. I am currently at JJC and feel like it is taking me forever to even apply to the nursing program here. I get confusing information from the advisors so I am here looking for some guidance and advice. I am starting another semester at JJC with a plan B of transferring to Morton College. Here are the classes I have taken and am wondering should I transfer to Morton or stay at JJC? Anyone who has attended either college can help! I just feel like I am taking all these prereqs at JJC that I might not need at Morton..ANY HELP WILL BE GRATEFUL!!! Thanks alot!!

ENG 101, PSYCH 101, PSYCH 215, SOC 290, SPCH 101, HEAL 109, BIO 100....

I will be taking BIO 151, CNA, and MATH 094 this semester..

From what I understood all I am missing is BIO 250 and BIO 251 (A&PI and II) which is needed no matter what at any college for the nursing program..Then why am I taking the other BIO is not needed or MATH..CNA I do not mind taking because it will help me...Is BIO 151 a prereq to A&P??

This would probably be better directed towards your college's business office or nursing program.

At JJC, Bio 151 is a prereq to bio 250. Bio 250 is a prereq to bio 251.

You do not need bio 100 for the nursing program at jjc.

Hope that helps :)

p.s. math 094 is a prereq to bio 151.

I have tried talking to a nursing adviser but I don't seem to get the right information and I sometimes feel like they just want to keep me there taking classes that I don't need!!

Have you tried looking at the catalog for classes? It will usually give a detailed explanation of the content of the classes and the prerequisites required.

All these prereqs at JJC are killing me, I feel like it is taking me forever to advance into the last 3 classes I need...am I on the right track? Oh and sorry I meant NURS 100 is the class I am taking not CNA..I can take that because I did OFS and BIO 100, but it was not fitting into my schedule this semester..I just feel like I am not moving forward with all the prereqs because there are so many LOL..AND PLEASE ANYONE WHO HAS GONE TO MORTON PLEASE REPLY BECAUSE I CAN TRANSFER THERE BUT AM NOT SURE IF I NEED MORE OR LESS PREREQS THERE!! And the one advantage JJC has is that they offer the apps twice a year!

This contains all the requirements and prerequisites. It was easily found on Google. Wonder if when you get accepted to nursing school, you will be one of the ones asking us to do your homework.

Absolutely not, I was just having a really hard time finding the info, because Morton College website doesn't explain or provide things like JJC did. I am sorry but I came to this site hoping to get some info and answers and I did, and I do appreciate all of it. Thank you.

And I did look at the catalog but I guess I just had a hard time understanding it, as far as comparing it to JJC, there catalog explained all the prereqs alot easier. Again thank you for your help.

If your going for your RN it sounds about right. It will take some time before you can apply. Looks like your missing you math class??? Good luck girl! :redpinkhe

I am taking my Math 094 this semester..I have had some problems with Math before and had to drop it. I do wonder if BIO 151 (Gen Bio) is worth taking before I take A&P I&II? Will it help me before hand or can you pass A&P without Gen Bio?? I hope to be able to put my application in by next fall. Thanks for all the help! :)

You don't need Bio 151 (Gen Bio) or the Math 094. Morton has a math for nurses class that they require. They'll only take that math course. The other requirements you listed are also required by Morton. You're missing chemistry. I am a student @ Morton. Good luck!
