I am not very comfortable with the new format questions. Is there any tip for "all that apply" and "fill in the blank" questions?
I am doing Saunders CD at the moment and if I write that the normal bl. sugar is "70-110 mg/dl", it gives me a right answer as "70 to 110 mg/dl".
My answer is right but it is not recorded in the right way. Any suggestions?

It is usually not going to give you questions like that with the ranges on the exam. The CD that you are using may be having problems with reading your written answers. Would not worry about that, the actual exam will not have any issues.

I'm confused. You typed in the same thing exactly in your answer versus the answer from your source...so what IS the discrepancy?

I think it was the (-) symbol vs the word (to).
As for strategies for the new format questions, just use what you know to make the best choices. I had about 8 select all that apply (out of 75 questions). I eliminated incorrect answers and selected the answers that were left. I rarely got select all that apply questions correct during my studying for the NCLEX so I got a bit freaked out when so many were appearing on my actual test. I survived and passed. Just be confident in yourself and your knowledge is the advice I give you.
Yes, the computer expects me to write exactly 70 TO 110 mg/dl and if I put any word extra, the computer will regard it as wrong answer.
But Suzanne said that on the actual exam I will not encounter such a problem.
Hope fill in the blank questions are just to write a number or a word...
Thanx for the input:)
This is what I was talking about, if you miss a word or write a similar word to what is expected from you, the computer will regard your answer as wrong.
I feel the same way, for "all that apply" questions I dont think there is any strategies. I elliminate the wrong answers just like you. Rarely I get an answer right. The computer will not prise you for selecting 4 out of 5 right answers.
Hope I dont have much of these.
Thank you!

It's a bug from the Saunder's CD. That won't happen in the real test so don't worry too much.

~greetings to chichimitchy!
So, it is a bug from the CD, thank you. This CD is giving me a headache. Sometimes I have to remove the program and install it again as the computer doesnt wanna run it.
Anyways, I am almost done with it. It is very helpful though.
As for strategies for this questions, I think there is no startegy. You have to know the content and elliminate all the wrong answers.
Thank you, Lawrence, please, say a prayer for me on Sunday, I am leaving tomorrow to Hong Kong.
Merry Christmas!

Will do. You should be relaxing by now anyway.
I've got 3 more exams in maternity and I am done with the CD. If I go out or open the TV I feel guilty and keep thinking that I would do another 100 questions in this time...
But I promissed myself, the day before exam will not even look at the books.
