I am writing a paper for school about the NICU being so understaffed. If anyone could give me any type of information on this topic, I would be so pleased. I need things like how it effecting everyone, what the hospitals are doing to improve this situation, how the nurses cope with this, any solutions that can help, ect. Again thank you for your help and I understand that this situation is becoming a growing issue and I truly hope something gets done soon about it. More people need to have this brought to their attention.

Are you writing the paper, or are we? What level of school are you in?

What makes you think NICUs are understaffed?

You need to do your own research. Part of paper writing is having valid sources. How do you know that any information we give you is accurate? For example, I could provide you information about my "experience" in the NICU. Yet I've never worked in the NICU.

I wonder if this is even a real problem. NICU is as far as I know one of the areas with sufficient staffing.
I suggest you do your research starting to figure out if it is a problem or not (peer reviewed articles / credible sources). If it turns out that this is not a real problem I suggest you find a different topic/area that has more literature.
You need to perform your own research in the library.
Look at the requirements for your paper and outline your paper.
Everything you are asking is part of your homework and you need to do the work yourself !

NICU's are understaffed? That's news to me. Everywhere I've worked people have been banging down the door to try to get into the NICU. I've never encountered one with understaffing. I suppose that doesn't mean there *aren't* any, but yeah you gotta give us more info instead of "please do my paper for me". Also, I've never worked in a NICU. Also, getting opinions from people on the internet who may or may not be nurses isn't really the best way to go about writing a paper. You have no way of knowing who we actually are. Best of luck.

Hint: The first step in researching your topic for a paper is not to ask an Internet forum to do your research for you.
The first step should be to ascertain that your topic/title sentence is factual.
I seriously hope that none of you are ever my nurses because every single one if you are some if the rudest people ever. I'm a second year student in Medical Sonagraphy. I'm writing the paper but we can have information from real nurses in the paper and yes there is a problem with the NICU being understaffed. Instead of you all being rude and telling me to do my research maybe you all should because i have already done my research. Every state is different just like every hospital is different. Some NICUs are properly staffed others are understaffed. Some of you all need to work on being rude. Don't be telling me to do my own hw when you don't know if I have or have not. I have done research and have crediable sources. Do any of you Smarty pants need them so u can verify them? Goodness. I asked for help so I can quote you because nurses are suppose to be on this site from all the reviews and my teacher told me I could ask and see if anyone would give me information for the paper but all I have is 6 rude people. Maybe I need to do a paper on how rude nurses are. I have some proof here..I hope you all have a wonderful day now.
Also, I have had an experience with the NICU being understaffed just this year. I have been in a hospital where one nurse was taking care of 8 babies with two of them being premies.
Maybe you need to write a paper on how easy it is to be taken for a ride by strangers on the internet who pose as nurses. Sure you want to quote those folks?
And if folks are "rude" because they have not experienced nor heard of a NICU understaffing trend, then I have to wonder what dictionary you use.
And BTW, it's *affecting* not *effecting.*
What's a premie?
One shift in one hospital does not a shortage make.
