I have to write a 12 page research paper for my online english class?
Currently I work as an aide in Geriatrics. Does anyone have a topic idea in that general area or anything particularly interesting, but not too broad?
Any replies or ideas are greatly appreciated!:)
THANKS JULES

If your interest is Geriatrics, how the aging population has changed (especially "Grand-boomers) due to advances in healthcare. There are a ton of articles on this.
Many elderly never experience a debilitated period, but are "young" well into their 80's.

You could write about decubitus ulcers, like the formation of them, treatment, prevention, etc.

Hi Jules,
I had to write a 10 page thesis paper last semester. My topic was on kidney patients flying around the world to buy kidney's from the poor for transplant. It was a very informative, and there is lots of information on this topic on the internet. I got an "A" on the paper, and for the course. Good luck!

I think this is the best advice so far! Pick a topic you know well. Something you love and won't mind spending a lot of time with. Only you know what that is!

dito! when i had to do a research paper for english, it was only 2000 words, i researched multiple sclerosis. mainly because i wanted to learn about. so if you dont want to write about something you like , research something you want to learn about. it will make the whole process fun!

My topic is: Nurse to Patient Ratio: Ohio Laws and Long Term Care Facilities.
I am working in Geriatrics and currently an RN student so, this is something that affects me, pretty much all of us, the patient ratio that is.
Thanks for your input. Jules

Some topics I wrote about in nursing school: Coping with death, advanced directives, nursing shortage, domestic abuse, elderly abuse, mental illness and homelessness, the concept of hope. Pick something that interests you and might come in handy in your future nursing classes.
