Because expectations are too high in my family I can feel the pressure on taking the NCLEX RN exam. My dad, aunt's, and my cousin who are nurses took the NCLEX RN for just 1 take. And on February I sat on the pearson vue site for my exam. after two weeks i found out that i failed. and yesterday i took my second one and i tried the pearson vue trick and no pop out appeared and that indicates I failed my exam (that is what they told me). And now, I have no idea how to start studying again. I got good grades on college but it seems I don't know anything when i sit on my exams. How will I start? Im just so ******.
You might also consider talking with someone about test anxiety. Some folks are just incredibly smart but they out think themselves at test time and the nclex is the Mother of all tests. YOU CAN DO THIS! We KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS!
As for your family. I would not sit for any personal opinions that are not supportive. Tell them you love them, that you have freaked yourself out over this and don't need any help in that department.
I agree that Kaplan is great. I did that too, and it helped me to feel more prepared.
Believe me, I know how you feel. I also failed the NCLEX exam the first time I took it. I was depressed for while like you are and that's okay. When you are ready, you will get back up on your feet. You have worked too hard to finish school. You are not going to stop now and let this test defeat you and get in the way of your dreams.
What I ended up doing is taking a Kaplan Review course. It taught me how to be a better test taker.
You went to school, you made good grades and you know the information. Now what you need to do is learn how to take the NCLEX. The Kaplan Review course will teach you that.
Best wishes to you.
I'm curious. What was the previous NCLEX pass rate for your college?
Ooooooohhhh-very good point. I know a lot of nurses that came out of a BSN program that did not pass, while the ones that graduated from an ADN or a diploma program passed without a problem. This is worth looking into, Mo. But I still believe that you are suffering from an enormous sense of anxiety from the test itself. What have you been doing the past few days? I hope that you are being easy on yourself and taking a break to enjoy the things that you love. Relax...you gotta learn how to do this.
Im sorry you are going through this. The best thing you can do is change your environment. Unfortunately your family does not know the stress they are putting on you. This is causing you mental and emotional stress, and causing you to lose focus. Explain to them what they are doing to you and while studying for the next exam, use a library or study hall. Don't study where the pressure or stress is. One last but very important thing, don't take that test for them, take it for you.

When you take the exam, remember the whole world is behind you, rooting for you, hoping you'll pass.
