Help, failed NCLEX RN 3 times!

Published

I really feel so bad, embarrassed and I am really going to quit it already but I told myself I did not graduate Nursing just to quit with NCLEX this time.

I have tried everything I know and have been reading encouragements that I know would help a lot just to pass NCLEX.

I have read the whole Saunders Comprehensive review, did the Prioritization, Delegation and Assessment by Lacharity, NCLEX Cram but still I didn't pass for the 3rd time. I didn't even cried anymore because Im probably out of tears already.

I don't even know if it's myself to blame, the environment that I am into right now, my family who are so negative thinking, and to my parents who aren't being very supportive at all because I am always a failure anyway.

This time I don't have anyone to share what I feel but in this forum. I don't know what should be my next step to start again or to continue what I have started, right now, I am earning confidence again and keeping my own positivity just so I don't ran out just incase I get a lot more of the negative comments in the near future. Studying wise, I don't know where should I go now, since I have studied the top NCLEX review materials that I have searched online.

Please give me advice about taking steps I should do right now, specially I live here in Hawaii where there is no review centers for NCLEX, and I am only studying through books, computer and I am registered in rnquiz.com.

Please Help me, I know I am not the only one having problems, please help me. It would mean so much to me. Thank you in advance.

Do not be devastated. You know what I was a huge believer of myself when I took my exam last May 8. But I failed, I was so depressed, frustrated and even embarassed with all the people around me. They didnt say it to me directly but I know, they think I dont study that much. Even my boyfriend told me, I didnt study that much and Im very much confident with myself thats why I failed. I felt like no one believes me anymore. But hey, Im talking to God each and every night that somehow, some way I wish I could pass my exam on 2nd try, ill be retaking my exam this coming July 18 and nobody knows. I hope I passed, so that you know o would surprise everybody and they will be proud of me.

Dont forget to pray my dear. You are not alone. Im gonna include you in my prayers. I also took Hawaii nclex rn btw. Hehe anyway, goodluck with us.

Hope you feel better. We're all here for you :)

My Dear, you are not alone. It will be my 5 th time taking the NCLEX in couple of weeks. I graduated in 2008 but because of situations beyond my control I couldn't do the NCLEX then. Now, I am doing Hurst and Davis Q& A for RN. I am not giving up and you shouldn't give up too. In fact no one who went through Nursing School should give up on their dreams. I put myself through nursing school by the Grace of God and I didn't give up then and I am not giving up now. As I write this post to you, I am waiting for Barnes & Nobles to open to study and use their free Davis Q & A and other books for review, practicing questions. My Dear, no one understand us but God hears our cry. I am a believer in God and I know he have a plan for me. The greater the test the more powerful the testimony. Remember, the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong but to those that endures to the end. Endure! Endure! Endure!

Sweetie, try not to over analyze on the NCLEX the next time you take the exam. This is my problem and I am working on it. You will pass NCLEX at the right time. Don't give up in the fight. You will win with God help.

Where do you feel your weaknesses lie? I would start there with the actual exam prep.

Next, it sounds like you have a very negative outlook, and your family isn't much help with that. The power of positive thinking is strong. If you go in saying, "I'm doomed to fail, I'm doomed to fail," it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you utilize your tools, take the day before off to relax, and don't cram the morning of, walk in saying, "I'm as ready as I'll ever be," and relax, you can do this. You made it through nursing school! That's huge! You have the tools to succeed.

Have you talked to any classmates about this? Has anyone else failed? Anyone you're close to that passed? Have you considered partnering up with them and studying that way? It might be good to get a couple of people's approaches and put together what works for you.

If you feel like it's more about strategy than content, you might try Kaplan. The class has really good strategies and tips, and the questions on the Q Bank and Q Trainers are great. I found that the questions were harder than the NCLEX, and I felt like that was good prep (though it scared me into thinking that I wasn't getting passing questions on the NCLEX, even though I was!).

You can do this!!

I agree with RBR...to add:

The issue may not necessarily the source of the review, but how one approaches the NCLEX itself: understanding the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; if you are having issues and are near or below passing; start with what stumps you in applying the questions-review questions and rationales; if you still don't understand the rationales, THEN review content for better understanding. If SATA and alternative format is an issue, then review strategies for understanding SATA, and alternate format, review rationales, THEN go to the content...understand where I am going with this?

Try also preparing for the exam by questions only; pay attention to percentage of questions correct-the higher your percentages, the increased chances of passing the NCLEX.

Before taking another exam, please take a step back and look at what is preventing you from choosing the best answer.

You are not alone sweetie, don't give up. Am in the same boat like you. I took Nclex rn 2 days ago for the 3rd time, just find out today that i failed again. Am so so devastated but what else can i do? I also need help on how to get back to track. That's the reason why i decided to join this group. This is actually my first post.

It sounds that your family has a huge impact on you, and with them being negative, its making you negative. maybe this time don't tell anyone anything, (that your studying, when your re-testing, etc.)

My problem was that I was worried having to tell people that I failed. I would only tell my wife and parents but they would tell everyone else, even post it on facebook so by the time I would get home from the test I would have to tell people, even people that I didn't know, (wifes friends from work, moms friends, etc.) that I didn't pass. So this time I am not even telling my wife when im testing, all im going to do is wake up early one morning and drive to the testing center and take my test, I am not even going to tell them unless I pass.

doing this has taken a lot of the stress off of studying and prepping. It seems like you are studying the right way, it may be your surroundings that are dragging you down.

just my 2 cents
