Hi everyone!
I'm in the position now to retake my NCLEX-RN exam. Although this will be my 5th time taking it i know in myself that i will surely pass.
Right now i have also applied for the NCLEX-LPN exam. Both will be in the New York State. I am now eligible to take both all i need is to pay the fee and I'm good to go.
My question is what is now a good refresher course or NCLEX review courses that you will recommend?
Hopefully people will still provide useful information in this topic like they did before. I love this site because they make you feel as if you will be able to pass your exam because they are very helpful and very encouraging people in this site.
Hello mga Kabayan!
We're all in the same boat huh? :) I'm in TX right now. I graduated 2007, then worked in a call center. Came here 2010, took the NCLEX RN exam 3 mos after arrival and FAILED! Honestly, I did not study hard, and was extremely unfocused. I am having a hard time studying, work and kids. I have Kaplan and Saunders reviewers on top of my computer table, which is untouched. I do not know how to study and where to start. If you can also guide me, I will really appreciate it.
Hi I'm from the Philippines too finished my BSN there last oct 2008 so it's been 4years I'm out of school. I just took the nclex rn here last march 27 and passed it first time with 80 questions. I would say that you guys should take hurst review online! Kaplan is useless you can't pass the exam just by answering questions. You need to build your content in order to pass. Goodluck to all of you!

Wow must be tough for you and all of us. Yeah its true that asking the question where to actually start is the big issue. Anyway i hope we'll all find what and where you start studying for us to make it after we take the exams again if you ever need help im sure me and others here will be willing to help you out.
yup!! and like u i applied for lpn too and i can take it anytime now but still not ready and not sure whether il get rn or lpn
Yup same for me, im thinking of taking both after i attend another review course. I sure do hope it really helps and i know im confindent that i will pass in the near future and so will all of us.
i feel like i will not pass ... cos of my low scores in Qbank (kaplan online) taking nclex rn ny too ;(((
Dont think too much into it, just keep tyring hard and workying yourself until you do have good grads on the Qbank, i did that before too and yes i was devastated when i didnt have high marks but i do always keep trying. I hope you pass your NCLEX in one shot, wishing for the best!

I heard HURST was pretty good ill check it out and if its online i would guess i'll have more time doing it, but i really like the classroom feel where you can interact with other people and having conversations about the topics because you chan share and learn more that way. Its still only a thought in my head and i hope it does help. Ill check the HURST online and see if they are available for me soon!

FAILED in JUne2013, a 2011 graduate with 81% in RN exam in Philippines, did a self review for 2months...its quite embarrassing to fail after spending so much money and quitting job just to review. and it made me see that US tackle their exam very differently. I heard many filipino graduates fail also and only a few passed this 2013. those passed were using online review. US graduates have high passing after April2013 so they must be doing something or learning some strategies that we dont know. I heard HURST was good too, some say if you have saunders you dont need hurst but others say different. THey said using HURST had a very hard time catching up online. is this true? I also talked to a filipino educated nurse who passed after april 2013 exam (the higher quota) and she said KAPLAN helped her a lot. Actually she used, a bit of HURST, cover to cover of SAUNDERS, and got KAPLAN online... Its quite expensive for me really to do those so I am choosing one online. I have the saunders book already. What u guys think?
lets build each other and help each other study and pass. thanks for the previous posts and tips. So we have to!
There is an excellent book that our school required called [h=1]Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 2e, there is a newer edition coming out soon but i used the 2e. It really helped with the multiple "who needs to be seen first, etc" questions I encountered when I took NCLEX in sept. I passed 78 questions, hope this helps:) Hang in there!!![/h]

You cannot take the NCLEX "as many times as it takes to pass" in Texas, as you can in some other states (I.e. New York). You only have 3 chances total in Texas. Be as prepared as possible the next time you test because you only have 2 more chance left! Best of luck!

Thats completely alright we will pass dont lose hope!
Were really on the same boat im about 3 years out as well. And like you i did not quite give all my effort on my first exam. I took it in the Philippines but it took me 9 months to do so because my ATT came after 9 months. And while waiting i got a job at a call center and thats were all my time and energy went. But up until now i have not given up hope because im still looking for a brighter future for me and my fiancee. Hopefully we will all pass here and live beter lives. If there will be a review session with the people on the same boat as us im willing to go, i just have a job right now as a caregiver and dont have much time off but i am really ready and willing to finish this exam once and for all.
Dont lose hope we will pass no matter what!
This is the first time i've heard of this "Concurrency Issue" could you shed some light on this for me or those who have not yet heard of this? Sounds like its a bad thing for us. And thank you for sharing your review and materials. Hopefully we will also be albe to use those and pass.
Hi, its alright failing your exam. I called the NY board of education and i told them that i did not pass before and the guy i talked to also said its quite alright because its not a 100%. He was very comforting about this issue. Congrats on passing your PNLE with high marks. I did not get a chance to take that because i am a US resident and they sent me off here in NY after i finishe school because i did not need it. And yes i totaly agree that our curriculum is tottaly different sometimes me and my cousin who finished her nursing school here in the US have short study sessions and it seems how they taught her was different from ours. BUt that doesnt mean that we will not pass. Its just a matter of how hard we try and how bad we want to be NURSES! Lets all pass together!
I've heard that HURST has very good content from the people in this forums. I also had Kaplan and so did my cousin who graduated here in the US,
Thats true, i know in myself that im a "Trial and Error" type of guy who learns through experience. And i know failing multiple times makes me feel that im getting the hang of the exam. All i need is to make a harder effort in passing and i know ill be good to go and so we all will.
