Hello everyone, I am looking for a nursing program that does not require you to take an exam first to determine if you get in the program. Programs where the professors and teachers work with the students. Please give me your suggestions for the Chicago Illinois and Indiana area. Thanks

Hi. Hope you get some good suggestions. But you will still need to do some research. I would suggest that you make a list of the available programs and start by visiting their websites. Most general info, such as your question, can be found there. Then you can make calls to specific nursing programs with any questions that you can't get answered by checking out the websites. You can also find a lot of feedback in the student forums of this site. Good luck finding the program that is right for you.
Thanks for the information...

Hi Try gogebic.edu\ it is a community college in Upper Michigan close to Wisconsin line...Hope this helps
You might want to post your questions in one of the students forums or in the IL or IN forums for more responses.

I don't want to be a pessimist, but I would be wary of any programs that do not require a standard aptitude test. I would look very carefully at the program to make sure that it is legitimate.
In this climate of more applicants than openings in nursing programs, I believe that all legitimate programs will use a standard entrance exam to thin down the applicants.
Keep in mind also that you will encounter many tests and testing situations along the way while in nursing school.

What is it about the entrance exams that you are worried about? They are much easier then Nursing school itself!

I've never heard of a nursing program that doesn't have an entrance exam. I had to take the TEAS test and go in with the program with a somewhat low score. I wouldn't worry too much about the test.
I'm in the nursing program at Joliet Jr. College in Joliet, IL. Its a 2 year program and most of the instructors are very helpful. After the first year you can take the LPN exam and after the 2nd year the RN. Not a lot of programs offer this option which I think is nice.
Hope this helps!

thanks for all the feedback, but i'm looking for a nursing program for my mother. i am currently enrolled in a bsn nursing program. i am going on my second semester and they did not require an entrance exam so i know that there might be schools out there that might not require entrance exams also. they are just a bit harder to find.
Yes that would make a lot more sense... Thanks

I Know that the college that both my wife and I attend which is Lorain County Community College doesn't require any type of entrance test at all in order to be excepted into either the LPN or RN program they only requirements are your prerequists courses such as Eng 101, Psych, algebra & statistic, STNA CPR, College 101, Pre-algebra(LPN) ect and that all.
Matter fact my wife has completed all of them and she will be excepted into the LPN program next fall
