Hi and welcome to allnurses! :)

Check out the IL state forum, as you'll find some better information related to specific schools in the area.

You should be able to re-take some of the classes, to get higher grades, and thus increase your GPA. Good luck to you!

Good luck to you. Welcome! Since you are asking a specific question, I'm going to move this thread to the student forum where perhaps more people will see it and offer advice.

hi, ladybug26, and welcome to allnurses! :welcome:

your gpa has to do with the grades you get, not necessarily with the school you go to. studying and attaining higher grades is a skill just like any other skill we learn in our lives. it takes practice, practice, practice. to learn to be a better studyier you will just have to start taking classes and dig in and start to study. there are all kinds of methods of studying and some will work well for you and some won't. part of learning the skill is the discovery of what works for you. the trick is to take classes at first that you know you are probably good at so you will build confidence.

there is a thread on the student forums that has links to websites that give you a lot of good information on how to study. these websites were set up by college instructors who teach about this. please take a serious review of them because you will need to hone the skill of studying in order to achieve any goal of becoming a nurse. if you have problems with studying i would not recommend any online nursing programs for you. good luck to you!

here is the official listing of approved and licensed nursing schools from your state board of nursing

My school has an "academic renewal" program that I was able to take advantage of. Basically, after being out of school for X number of years (can't remember exactly), if you get a certain number of credits with good grades (C or better, I think), they would remove the bad grades from the record. You might want to look into that. It helped my GPA a lot!
