Has anyone on this board gone to Helene Fuld college of Nursing? If so, what was your experience?

Helen Fuld is like " boot camp " for nurses the program is intense,

and very rewarding. Be prepaired to have no social life and have no interests but school. It was worth every hour I put into it I graduated in 2006.

Specializes in Tele, Dialysis, Med-Surg, ICU,GI.

I haven't started the nursing courses yet(not until October)but so far its not too bad.

i just graduated April 29th, and i must say that this program is very intense. If your going to do this program in one year, like someone said already be prepared to have no social life.

What are their hours? Are you able to work and if so part-time or full-time?

Specializes in Tele, Dialysis, Med-Surg, ICU,GI.

classes can start as early as eight and end at night at night. At the interview the school makes you sign an agreement that you will not work full time in the program. If you are going full time in the program that is impossible to work a full time.

I just wanted to bump this thread because I'm interested in this school. I'm in the middle of my lvn(lpn) program in Texas and would like to go to a bridge asap. But anyway, can anyone talk about the neighborhood and the subway ride from UES? I lived in UES for some time a couple of years ago so I'm familiar with the subway but I never usually went above the 90s on the 6 train.

Can you work part time while enrolled full time? Is it 5 days a week?

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

I have a friend that went there to earn her RN the same time I was in LPN school, so I sort of felt that I lived the Helene Fuld experience through her. Their maternal child instructor on the day schedule was hell on wheels from what I heard. Most people had difficulty making it past her. But, they say she made you learn.

It is very intense; their semesters are about two weeks shorter than the average school. Try not to challenge the instructors, just listen and yes them to death. Good luck! If you made it through LPN school, you will be able to apply your determination through this, too!

Heh, that's funny. I'm pretty good at the "yes, m'am" reply and have put it to good use with my lvn instructors. It's so funny how hard it is for some students to make the connection that constantly challenging the almighty instructor is only gonna piss them off and make it harder for you. If you do one thing wrong they will crucify you for it, but if you're on their good side, they sure are a lot easier on you.

Is there anyone currently enrolled who can talk about their experience in Helene Fuld? Any good places to study around the neighborhood?

Specializes in Med/Surg Nurse, Homecare, Visiting Nurse.

My friend graduated from that program...you have to work a year as an LPN before you can apply to that pogram. Also i heard it is very intense....they make u beg for it...basically. My suggestion don't put ur eggs in one basket.

Just bumping this thread. I just finished lvn school. I know I have to work for at least 1 year before applying here but I really want to attend this school.

Any graduates or current students, please talk about your experiences here, I'd really appreciate it.

BTW, what are the facilities like? Neighborhood? Is it pretty safe when you take the bus or subway home after the 9pm class?

Is Helen Fuld in Baltimore? It sounds familiar...
