Is it the old suit, or more casual? Does it depend on the school? Is it tacky to ask?!

I went with a long-sleeved shirt, cotton slacks, and a tie - less formal than my business suit but more formal than a polo shirt.
The guy behind me had on a full suit.

I would wear a suit. Treat it like a job interview.

I also recommend treating it like a job interview -- though the full suit regalia might not always be necessary. There are lots of threads on that topic here.

I wore black plants, white shirttucked in) with a purple sweater and closed toe heels. Minimal make up, and jewlery too. good luck! OH! and NO strong perfume!

I wore a blue button down long sleeved shirt (my interview was in January of this year) and a dark brown pair of dress pants, and dress shoes. Basically wore what I would have worn to a job interview. Must have been okay to wear that because I start nursing school on August 30th

Hi there,
I understand your concern. It is very stressing to think about what to wear to an interview.
At any interview, including school interviews, you have to wear business causal, minimal makeup and no strong perfume (body spray after a shower will be sufficient to make you feel fresh) No chewing gum (use a mint instead) and no sandals or open shoes (even if your toes look gorgeous!) No fake nails. Do not over do your hair, wear it very simple and neat, and minimal jewelry. I know... that does not have anything to do with you being the right candidate for their nursing program, but they really pay attention on details.
The rule of thumb is wearing dark pants, light shirt (not a t-shirt) and dress shoes. You won't get it wrong!! Good luck.

Dress like you're going to a job interview. I wore black pants, a pink blouse, and a suit jacket, and I got in! (I heard that if you get an interview, chances are you're already accepted to the program, but I don't know if that's always true. It was for me!)

Business. It is your job interview (in a way).

I wore nice slacks, and a nice dress shirt with a v-neck sweater over it....but it was very chilly outside. I contemplated a suit, but didn't want to come across as being overly "stuffy".

Suits are the best for interviews. Skirt/jacket or pants/jacket. Suits make you look good and professional.

I rock the full suit simply cause I look pretty BA in it.
