So today in class I was easy dropping(well there is no nice way to say it!!!) on a couple of students talking about sign on bonus for nurses. Well one of the students was saying that LPN's never get sign on bonus and they are just for RN's. I hate to say this but they full on started going at it.....I think we are ready for our braek and all have been togheter to long to say the least;)
I was wondering if this was true and if any of you lovely LPN's out there did get a sign on bonus
RNs who are willing to work in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas (Brownsville, Harlingen, McAllen) can get sign-on bonuses of up to $50,000.
I have never received a sign-on bonus. In addition, a good facility does not need big sign-on bonuses to attract and retain nurses. Only the crappy facilities with bad working conditions must resort to giving bonuses.
What is the term of employment required with a bonus like this? I don't know about you gals but 50k might just help make a horrible place a bit more pleasant.
I work in a hospital in Northern Michigan. LPNs do not get sign on bonuses. Our community is small and there isn't a much of a demand for LPNs. The hospital does give sign on bonuses to new RN grads but not to experienced RNs who are new hires which really makes absolutely no sense at all. I mean really would you perfer a experienced nurse or not!!?? I have no understanding as to why our community does not use LPNs more. We are a small community and the rate of pay for RNs even is low. I know an RN who drives an hour and a half to work in the lower state, works two twelve hour shifts a pay period and makes nearly as much as she did working in a management nursing position 80 hours a pay period. That's bad.
