Gentle that's awesome about the bike. Be careful and wear a helmut (trauma nurse here) and you'll be fine and soon you'll be going on one of those accross the country fundraisers. LOL
I was good yesterday and went to the gym and ate relatively well. I'm trying to cut back on coffee consumption and had three cups yesterday which is very very good for me.

What do you know about the negative effects of coffee, Tweety? I usually have a couple of lattes a day (I have my own machine) You sound like a heavy coffee drinker. My understanding is that coffee is benign when consumed in moderation.
I did pick up my bike from the fix-it-shop though.
I did that last year but it was towards the end of the season last year Now it is a clothes rack in my spare room. I live on the 2nd floor so it's kind of a pain to take it out but it's nice when I do. Tweety I would LOVE to do those charity rides - I once dreamed of doing Boston to NY for AIDS I think it was... now THERE is a DREAM!
I put a little fresh grated parmesian and cheddar on the asparagus, yummy. I love asaparagus!
Hi jls - hmm, that sounds pretty good. You know, I have no idea how to cook asparagus. My mom used to serve it to us FROM A CAN with nothing on it and I hated-hated-hated it. Then when I was around 20 there was a family wedding and a "real chef" served fresh asparagus w/ some kind of sauce - I ate it to be polite and - it was GOOD! But - I haven't had it since. Psychological trauma of the earlier versions I guess.
Anyway - now that I am near to 100 years old - how do you cook it?

You're right, I am a heavy coffee drinker, and it gets out of hand sometimes. I can drink 5 to six a day if I don't watch it. I also have pre-hypertension so it doesn't help to drink so much coffee.
Coffee in moderation is fine and in fact it has antioxidants which are healthy, so don't warry about the lattes if they are low fat/low sugar.
Hey everyone. I've been pretty slack lately. But I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I went to the gym today. They have this new bicycle that is sooooo cool. It is an upright bike that you ride and follow a course on a virtual reality TV. It is so cool. You chose your course. You can ride in the mountains, on the beach, through a city.... Then you go up and down hills. You can ride each course and then ride it again and try to beat your best time. Pretty dang cool. And you have to turn the handle bars to steer.
So I was excited to ride the bike. I'm excited to return to the gym to ride it again.
I'm also trying to eat better. Going to start bringing my lunch to work again. I always eat better when I do that. I've got broccoli and grilled chicken packed for tomorrow. Special K with strawberries for breakfast. Anyways, I'm getting married in July so I really want to look good.... Hope I can stay motivated.

Hi all!
Just doin' a 'drive-by' - haven't logged in in toooooo long!
Life is fine - not thin yet, not any fatter either, so I guess that's okay. Have started taking 3 classes/semester instead of 2 so I can try to get things finished a little sooner. Things are going okay there, though sometimes I scramble to get my homework finished in time. Just bought a house, got a good deal, but it means moving again. It's only been 6 months... not sure I'm mentally up for it, but there we are.
The dog, DH, and I need to get a walking plan going for the new locale. Weather is finally thinking of turning to spring, making it a lot more likelly. Never have been much on walking in the snow in the dark...
Later!!!!

Congrats on the new house and school and all that! it's nice to see you!
Hi everyone,
Well, the bike ride was nice. I didn't crash into any trees, police cars, or frighten any elderly people nor squirrels.
So, all in all it was good.
Perhaps at this juncture I should mention that I had to push the bike part way because, I was going up a very small incline. Jeesh!!!:uhoh21: Oh well, it is what it is for now.
Weight loss holding at approximately 8lbs. No weight gained, which is good. My endurance for my walks is getting better--bit by bit.
I'm happy for us all. It really is all good--ya know !!! We are doing the best that we can; and we keep pushing forward bit by bit. Somedays are good while others aren't so good. It's all good.
Gotta go.
Hmmm maybe we'll get to try visiting Leggy tomorrow. Hopefully he will uncurl and walk on ds2's arm.
My :heartbeat to everyone.

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well.
Just wanted to check in. Thank you for everyone who is willing to hang in there with me. I really appreciate the accountability.
No exercising today. I did pick up my bike from the fix-it-shop though. I'm excited to begin riding. I haven't ridden my bike in years. I mean years!!!!
I hope the newness of the experience will be enough to motivate me to get up early for short rides until I build endurance. If not, I hope the shear fear of being run over by a teenager driving to school, who drives as badly as I do on this bike, will be motivation enough.
Alas, I don't know.
Well, if you don't hear from me for several months, I have probably met the teenager, sheriff's department, paramedics, and a few disgruntled squirrels whose home I crashed my bike into while screaming in terror.
(Mental note: be careful of lose gravel.
)
I now consider myself somewhat ready to embark upon my new adventure. Please wish me well. Oh yeah, and don't forget to pray.
Love,
Gentle
