It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. I'm trying hard to totally avoid saturated fats and eat Mediterranian. Another biggie is not to substitute sweets for the beer and wine. I really have developed the habit of avoiding all the sweets at work. I want to improve on sweets.I wish the nursing workplace was more health oriented. Many of my co-workers sip pop all day, and snack on junk, unfortunately.
Nice to have you here!
So how is it eating Mediterranian - is it a specific diet or just categories? Wish I could do something other than the "black and white" thinking I have when it comes to losing wt. I'm either all good or all bad. Right now I am all bad. Getting over the flu or whatever doesn't help and I also tend toward depression in the winter!
Hi everyone,Just checkin in. Still improving after the flu/bronchitis or whatever the heck we had. Oh my, I wouldn't wish that mess on anyone.
((((( Gentle Girl )))))))) Nice seeing you hon - glad you all are on the mend!
Mediterranean means eating lots of olive oil instead of animal fats, salads, fish, vegies, and stuff like that. I gave up the red wine 'cause I liked it too much.
I liked it too much since I was 25 yrs old so I don't drink it anyways ...
Thanks! I had thought of going Mediterranean. But I am not much of a cook - or shopper. Eater? I have that down pat.

I know exactly what you mean. Someone is always bringing in junk food, or we're having parties. I trip up my diet at work all the time.

Insomnia is still an issue in our home but oh well. I just went to bed earlier and that does seem to help. Now I can get up and walk before dropping off ds1 at school.
Weight loss is maintaining without additional gain. Though I do think that I have hit a plateau.
I'm running late for homeschool soooo I gotta go.
hugs to everyone. Gentle
Glad you're feeling better Gentle. Insomnia is something I'm quite familiar with.

You're in good company. I've got that one down too.
I had a good time in Miami and I didn't eat very healthy at all. I did go to a yoga class for three days in a row which was helpful. Occasionally had some fruit and whole grain cereal for breakfast, but I enjoyed it. I'm going to hopefully live up on my promise to get back on track starting today. So far so good, but it's only 10:20 AM. :chuckle

Well, you had a good time, and you did yoga, that's a good thing!
I just weighed myself, I am 3 pounds shy of my pre-wt loss weight again. Meaning that I regained 7 of the 10 I had lost. I have been eating like crazy lately esp at night. Just STARVING. I hate it.
I do eat brunch, and supper, and then I keep going after supper even after I'm full. Good foods, bad foods, everything in between... wish I could blame someone/something but it's must me, being unwilling to get back on the wagon.
I need a better addiction!
I went to yoga class tonight. I've skipped that class for many weeks and have about five classes on my pass left that I bought a couple of months ago. Needless to say the class, which is power yoga and not a beginners class kicked my patootie. In a good way though.
I made a huge batch of fat free vegan lentil soup for some low-cal eating. :)

ROFL, Zoe. That is funny.
I just came home and made myself a quick fresh, cooked aspargus topped with cheese. Now I'm going to eat some yougurt for dessert, with some fresh strawberries.I only ate two kisses from the candy drawer at work.
Yummmmy. I'm going to have to try that one, jlsRN. Which cheese did you use? I've never tried cheese on asparagus. I have had cheese on cauliflower and brocolli, though. I like that too.
Good job on the candy drawer restraint. I stink at that one. Junk food really is a temptation at work for me too. One nice thing is that we now have to go to the break room to find the junkfood. Soooo, a bit more out-of-site, out-of-mouth for me. (Can't really say out-of-mind. small prob with obsessive compulsion when it comes to chocolate. see it; smell it; GOTTA HAVE IT. I'm kind of like cookie monster only it's chocolate.)
Did I mention my dh is bringing me a soy hot chocolate from Starbucks for dessert?
