This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
BBF, I've had a bad couple of days too. I agree you have to look at the long haul, rather than two days.Blue, I didn't think Pharm was that bad, but those drug presentations are irritating.
Tweety - you are right, pharm is not too bad so far, just too many distractions during the first 10 days (just did a 600 mile move - you have to pack every toothpack for one trip, instead of making multiple cross-town trips - more stressful!). I am actually enjoying the reading material - author can be pretty entertaining at times. Who would guess.
Strong work everyone, with all your losses! I am down 3 lbs!!! Add that to everyone's total - what are we up to as a group?
Have a good week, all!
Jay, I was going to say what Steph did, that it is probably muscle weight. Also, I agree with you that your caloric intake is too low. Men of your weight shouldn't be so restrictive without medical supervision, and as you have found it doesn't necessarily equate with weight loss. Rev up your metabolism by adding healthy snacks and eating five times a day. Lastly don't beat yourself up for not losing weight this week by upping your weight loss goals for the next week because you might be setting yourself up for failure. Realistic healthy weight loss goals of 1-2 lbs a week is fine. (It's funny I was watching Celebrity Fit Club and they say this in one breath and in the next say "your weight loss goal is 5 lbs".) End of lecture.I'm off to the gym here in a few. As I say I was lazy towards the end of the week. I'm having a bit of trouble with being consistent on a daily basis and I seem to sabbatoge towards the end of the week, negating and gains (or actually losses) I've made. I have to take a look at that. Working 5 days in a row might be harder than I think. :)
I'm just not that much of an eater. There are some foods that I love and do eat too much of when I have them, such as pizza and chicken wings, but in general, I do not eat a lot. I didn't start eating breakfast everyday until nursing school. Now, I find that on my days off, I've went back to not eating breakfast. I still eat breakfast when I go to work, but that is only 3 days a week. I agree that I shouldn't up my weight loss goal for the week. And yes, it is funny when celebrity fit club judges say "your weight loss goal is 5lbs.":lol2:
I appreciate everyone's support. I wish everyone continued success!!!!
Wow guys, how awesome! I have only lost a pound this past week, but alltogether I have lost something like 50 since the beginning of last summer and seem to be yo-yoing in about a 5-lb range right now. I wish I could remember my starting weight, but I torched it somewhere, darn-it, what was I thinking??? Well anyway, either way since I am measuring more in clothes sizes than lbs, I have lost 4 dress sizes (the ones that skip a size in between, so 8 size by size sizes or 4 two-size at a timers if that makes any sense) so WooHoo!!! I have only one more size to lose (or two depending on how you are counting) to be back to the size I was when I got married - yeay! I still thought I was heavy then, but right now that is my goal and I'd like to make it by my anniversary which is December 5th. :)
Well y'all, off to class. Have a happy, healthy day!
Well, another bra notch down - haven't been able to do that for some time. Also not so hard to bend over (snickering - never thought I would get THAT bad!). Little rolls are getting smaller (don't notice the bigger ones getting smaller tho..
)
Ha ha. The worst part of bending down is having to get back up, though
How old are the kids? would they walk w/ you or bike next to you as you walk?
Yep, my littlest is two and the rest just go on up to grown and out of the house. They would definitely go with me; I just wouldn't get far very fast with all of them, LOL. But, we do go on good walks sometimes; I bribe them with Subway or a book--that way even the ones that don't want to go, still do.
Hi all!Good to be back!!! Just finished our long distance move. Back to city life instead of small town desert life. DH and I are surprised at how easy the transition has been. We are renting a house for the time being - drama there, basement flooded twice in the last 10 days. Sewer line to street had tree roots. Got a new washer out of the deal though (thought it was the source of flooding - it wasn't, but it was pronounced DOA anyway). The move and drama have put me a bit behind in school (pharmacology this time), but I'm not working yet so I have a bit of time to catch up. I do need to find some local nurses to do presentations to for school. I'm thinking I might look into local nursing homes as a resource there.
Moving in combo with school is VERY influencial in expanding the ol' waistline! The good news is I can now get into a yoga class, not available before. Now that the move & flood are over, no more excuses to eat out every night! Got some fish in the freezer to grill - as soon as DH assembles the grill, lol! Went for a walk last night before dinner, a new 'plan A' we are starting for the daily routine. It wasn't long enough, but it was a start.
Good to see y'all again!!!
I'm glad your move went well. I was kind of hoping your water problems wouldn't follow you, though
Off to work out - sigh . . . .getting a bit bored with the gym. Plus it is 17 miles away. They have two recesses . . the kids run and run and run. steph
I guess you could work up to walking TO the gym for your workout. It would be almost a marathon :)
Our elementary school separated lunch and afternoon recess. I think it's a great idea; that way the kids don't rush through their meals to get outside and if they're slower eaters, they don't have to miss their playtime.
ha ha, sounds like my old dementia floor ...
LOL.
Hey, if we're losing enough weight for a person, can I be that person???
I haven't been weighing myself at all. The batteries went out in my scale and I figured that was a sign . Actually, I find it only discouraging...BUT my belly rolls are diminishing a bit.
I'm so behind here, I just decided to jump in and not try to catch up! But, I am so proud of all of you and love seeing all the new faces--and some old friends. So nice to see you again, ER.
I'm having a light breakfast today in anticipation of a luncheon today. Hope I don't gorge too much. :)Have a great day!
Hope you enjoyed your luncheon :)
Hi guys! Happy Halloween!!! Have a great one!!! I'm dressed all "gothic fairy" today, it's a blast!!!
I'm *trying* to picture that one . I'm dressed as a nurse, myself. Easier for spending the day at work, LOL. Some of our babies dressed up and looked darn cute, I must say.
