Part IV
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
Heh, we used to faithfully watch that show every Saturday--it must have been late in the afternoon because my mom was always in the kitchen cooking dinner. Kind of a nice memory, actually. . . :) Then we'd watch the Solid Gold Dancers--a nice memory for my brothers, LOL.This forum used to be down lower in the pull-down menu, somewhere, but things got moved around somehow. Apparently, I must have been the only one who couldn't navigate around it, though, LOL
. Brian had to get involved in my search
; but he got me my answer very quickly.
Oh I gotcha.
Do you get a notification in your email that there is a new post on this thread?
That's how I found out about this post, Zoe :)But, depending on when I last visited the site, notification can be a bit spotty
Things have been a bit quiet here lately, no?
Usually, if I click on the link in the email to get to the thread, I will be notified of the next post. Sometimes after that I will get notified of EVERY post to a thread! and sometimes not at all lol
Quiet on this thread or quiet on allnurses? I thought it was your absence that made it so quiet!
Speaking of absences, weren't you going on a camping trip or something?
Glad to see some of you back! I was getting worried .
Zoe--quiet here on this forum, not the site, is what I was thinking. I WISH I were camping. I've had a few days off, but not DH, so . . .
Angie, you and Muffie can be W-buddies. We should start our own group :).
I walked my errands yesterday. Enough of a hill where I live that I think it counts as a workout--esp. with a full stroller coming home. We also went on a bike ride last night. That was what my boy wanted to do for his birthday, so we did.
I'm baaaaacccckkkkk!
I missed you guys! Just posted my Second draft of the research paper I have been working on. The title is "Simple Lifestyle Changes Can Reduce Healthcare Costs". 13 pages of info. promoting what we all are doing here. Exercise and eat better and your chances of chronic illness drops significantly. Your chances of being a feisty oldster who makes the average American 50 year old look ancient is quite good. I get one more crack at revising the paper, then need to submit the final result by Thursday. Then I will have my first class completed!! Chances are good I might even get an A. Nice way to start boosting the gpa, right out of the shoot as it were. I have been playing with my course schedule. Depending on how I actually end up taking classes (assuming they don't jack with the course schedule too badly) I will be finished either April or August, 2009.
I am seriously hoping not to get the 'Freshman 15' or however many pounds most freshman gain in their first year! Scheduling has been a challenge to say the least. My job often has me working 50+ hours a week, but that is due to change really soon. If I can get a 'regular' job it will help a lot! The new guy is half trained, so we are definately making progress.
2.5 weeks 'til Vega$, baby! Yeah, I know, we just went, but I'm ready to celebrate my 50th b.d. with more than just a night out at Chili's. DH and I will be meeting some friends who are traveling from Tulsa. Should be fun.
Actually, I might be celebrating twice! A gf also turns 50 this year, and wants to do a fun girl trip with a 3rd friend also celebrating. We are thinking about San Francisco and a Napa wine country trip. DH isn't particularly fond of either, and says no problem.
Well, best get the ol bod moving. Exercise has not been as regular as I would like. Eating has not been horrible, but could use tweaking for sure!
Later!
:studyowl:
Way to go Angie. My diet could use a little tweaking, but I'm working out fairly regularly.
It's the working out that's fun . But, you seem like you have a good handle on the food part. I've admired that :)

When you come back, you do so with a vengeance! Congrats on your paper and your almost-class. That's got to feel great.
I gained 15 lbs, but it was over two years and I think a lot of it was having to physically be at school and clinicals. The stress didn't help, but it was hard not having access to good foods--and I was never too great at packing a lunch. Turns out, I really like structure and having each week be different was not so great for me. BUT, you have us and the info from your looong paper (although you're not making me want to go back to school much ) so I bet you are one who loses weight through the whole experience and ends up healthier than you started
Your upcoming trips sound awesome.
