Hi Zoe, everyone!
ER, my dh is using Chantix and feels he's beat the habit after one month. I know a few others who've had success with it as well. I wish you success with quitting. Also, don't forget the online quit smoking program of the American Lung Association.
Muffie, they were passing out brownie bites at the supermarket yesterday. DS and I got through that ok, but it was a challenge for a few seconds. Frankly, I don't think I could eat a whole one at this point and I'd probably have a similar reaction if I tried. Really, not worth it.
I messed up yesterday, sorta. I woke up late and then we went shopping, and it wasn't until we got home that I realized that I hadn't eaten all day long. That's just not good for me, because then I tend to overeat, plus I get a nagging little headache. So I'm going to try not to do that again, even if I only eat a half cup of fruit or something within four hours of getting up for the day.
Today I had a couple of poached eggs on toast and some fruit and my cup of coffee. Actually, it's a pretty big cup, so maybe it's really a two-cup deal.
I've been thinking a lot about portion sizes lately and realizing that over the years, my portions have increased. Anyway, it was on my mind because I should be able to cut back a little now that I've lost so much weight over the past few months. I think the WW points plan does have you cut back a little for every 10 pounds lost.
Also I thought it would be better to increase exercise rather than cut back drastically. Gotta dust off the bicycle as it'll be easier on the feet.

Quitnet.com is also good! and free, unless you want premium services. There is a quit meter, discussion forums, testimonies, etc.
Zoe and Angie......ty for the info, I am using welbutrin, and it works well....I just need to keep the determination and realize that one cigarette will make me a two pack a day smoker again......tried to think I could smoke only one, although I had to buy a pack of 20.......I wonder what I thought would happen to the other 19? hmmmmm
Sounds like everyone is doing good....
Angie...I have been trying to watch my portion sizes, it is amazing how much we all eat.......the size of our portions are way out of range. I am looking forward to this summers garden and fresh veggies, dh and I can live off fresh veggies, so that should help
Goodness it feels good to be back here......

ha ha ha! you are funny! But it's true! "One is too many and twenty are not enough". That's a (paraphrased) old AA slogan but it fits here too...
I quit for 4.5 years but when I smoked that 1st one I KNEW that I was committing myself to many more... sigh... stinks don't it?
But I stick by my gratitude today - when I see someone light up I say "thank you God that I don't have to smoke" - or, like this week, when I am coughing and short of breath, or waking up hacking, I think, "Oh how much worse this would be if I still smoked!"
15 + months now!

Question: (for anyone)
In prepared meals ie Lean Cuisine WW and the like, how come the veggie portions are so small? It doesn't seem like even one serving.

So glad you're having a wonderful time in LV, Bluehair!
We had a potluck at work. Someone brought veggie sticks and salad, so I added a little of that to my Lean Cuisine dinner and I was soooo stuffed! I admit, the buffalo wings did tempt me a bit, so when I got home, I cut some slices of chicken breast (about 4 oz) and heated them up, then I put a couple tablespoons of Crystal Wing Sauce on them. Not exactly hot wings, but not bad for a pseudo-wings snack. Topped it off with some sugar-free Jello and a Sean Connery/Catherine Zeta-Jones movie.
My "fat clothes" catalog arrived the other day and I had a chance to look through it. There were some drawstring jeans. On sale. For about what I'd pay at the discount stores. Sizes go all the way up from size 12. Hmmmm....
