Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
Wow Tweety - the yoga sounds interesting, I would probably fall on butt - LOL! I think 90% of the time is a good thing!
I have had this horrible cold for 3 days now, so have eaten only the bare minimum to remain alive (which consisted of three bites of steak last night before it made me queasy and a cup of juice this morning). On the plus side, I have lost about 5 lbs - hehe. Maybe this will be an added bonus to my diet. Hope I can get over this soon though, I hate being sick!
Mmmmm - that pizza sure sounds good!
Thanks Tweety - think I am mostly over my cold now, just the sniffles is all that is left, but hey, I can live with that!!!
Ok - been really bad over the weekend, milking my cold with chocolate and junk food once I could taste enough to eat, so that's enough of that! My tummy is protesting this morning (and so are my jeans - hehe), so back on track now! Getting a stupid cold should not be an excuse to eat bad, sheesh, what's a matter with my brain? Ok, heading down to the grocery store on my lunch break today to buy a bag of salad.
I think if the weather holds, I will take my kiddos to the park this evening - that has proven so far to be the best exercise for me while I'm waiting for the dance video I purchased to come in. It's great because Michael wants me to run back and forth and climb all over the jungle-jym with him! Monica is too little to go up by herself, so therefore I have to keep active when I go over there. We usually stay about an hour and a half (from the time I get home until dark), so it is great exercise, plus it's a blast! Oooh, I hope it stays nice today!
Hope everybody has a good Monday! :)
Sarah! Glad to hear you are well enough to run around with the kids at
the playground. A dose of chocolate and junk food is allowed
in sick bay. You'll be back on track with a healthy diet now
that you are better.
Stay well!
Tweety- I'm waiting for your cookbook !
Pesto pasta ! Sounds great!
I'm back on the Mediterranean diet-so this fits right into
this diet approach.
Sarah, for some reason I usually eat bad when I feel bad too, but this last go around I ate more fruits and veggies and I think I bounced back a bit quicker. But something about being sick makes you want to reach for the comfort food.
Jahra, the Mediterranean diet from what I've read sounds like a real good one. Any diet that lets you have bread, olive oil and wine can't be bad. LOL
Thanks guys! Well, I am working on my second glass of water already this morning, so yeay! Trying to drink more water. I have never liked water and so I never drink enough of it. Soooo, I am adding it into my daily intake. I bought some lime juice the other day and think I will add a few drops to my water to make it more appealing to me.
Well, finals tonight for pharm calculations, so off to study! Hehe.
As I mentioned in the GM thread - I maxed out my dumb bell kit today! 20 lbs on each arm! :w00t: I'll need to go out and buy and bar and some more weights too.... soon. Perhaps in a week or two.
Been lagging/neglecting my running though :mibar Still stuck on the (8 minute jog - 4 minute walk - 8 minute jog - 4 minute walk - 8 minute jog - 4 minute walk) routine. I need to concentrate so I can step it up to the next level of 12 minute jog - 2 minute walk (repeat two more times).
Then, I'll be set to run three straight miles :)
I've lost 8 lbs and have managed to keep it off.
I haven't had a cigarette in months now!
Happy to see y'all here... just thought I'd drop an update :)

Lost weight AND not smoking???? that's a miracle! :pumpiron:
Awesome Roy! Congrats! WooHoo!!! You should be so proud of yourself, you are doing just awesome!
Hi Zoe!
I, on the other hand, had a Dr. appt. on Monday and found out that my stupid blood pressure is up . . . again. For quite a while it was staying in the normal range, but Monday it was 130/92. Aaaargh!!! It's so frustrating because I have been working so hard to keep it down. I don't want to go the medication route, I mean, I will if I have to, but I would like to get it down naturally first. Maybe it's PMS pushing it up - stress and moodiness, I don't know but I'm trying to find some place in this gosh darn town that sells blood pressure cuffs so I can track it myself for a while and see what it does.
Have a good day everyone!

I'm trying to be good. I had a Snickers at bowling Monday night but otherwise good. I figure if I'm 90% good these days, that's o.k.
I like my new yoga class, he kicked out butts last night and I'm feeling it. He's a fan of inversions (standing on your head or getting upside down) which is interesting. Takes a lot of strength.
