Health insurance covering titers, exam, etc?

Published

I know everyone's case is different, but I just wanted a general idea. If you have health insurance, did they cover your physical exam, titers, vaccines if needed, and the TB test?

I have excellent health insurance through my husband's employer. My physical exam and vaccines are covered, but the titers and TB tests are not. My TB tests cost about $60, and I can't remember how much the titers were as I had them done a couple of years ago now, but I don't think they were too bad.

I have very good health coverage through my husband's employer. My health insurance has covered all of my vaccines/physicals/titers

Not sure about the TB test because I got it done at the county health dept and they only charge $10 but it's cash only....they don't charge your insurance.

If only I could find my shot records. I love how I saw them around when I didn't need them.

I try at least once a week to get titers covers by ins; I maybe get one every two months covered. It's not likely that you will get your titer draw paid for.

My vaccines and TB test were paid for by insurance. I don't remember paying for titers either. I went for a physical and my doctor ordered the lab work to include them. I'm almost positive they were covered that way.

Mine weren't covered. I did what I could at the Health Dept and ended up getting my titers free because they did the wrong ones (have to make sure you get IgG not IgM (one tells you immunity and one tells you if you actively have it)

Some were, some weren't. It really depends on your insurance company and how your doc codes it.

some walk-in clinics will do the titers and vaccines, etc for a cheaper rate than regular MD. Hey, Walgreens is cheaper than some.

My university's health clinic offered them much cheaper than out of pocket at a dr's office. I didn't have insurance while in school, and my friends that did say they weren't covered.

My health insurance covered everything at no cost to me.

When I needed titers done, my PCP at the time warned me that my insurance probably would not pay, but both of us were surprised when they did. I never asked the doctor what he put on the request to justify the tests.
