Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL
Thanks!
The thing is, supposedly they can't be tennis shoes because certain professors will not allow tennis shoes, and you never know when you may end up having that particular professor...so Nike Shox/Pumas are out of the question.
If any of the guys here find decent looking shoes, share the information, PUHLEASE!

I have my eye on a pair of white leather chuck taylors. They're tennis shoes, but as far as I could tell yesterday there's only one professor who has a problem with tennis shoes, and he's taking a weekend clinical that only took 10 students.
I hate the scrub top, it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen and appears to be made from sandpaper (my delicate skin!) buuhuu
Oh, and yesterday was a shambles.
Jason,
I was thinking the same thing, but I was unsure if the clinical professor listed on your schedule online was your actual professor? Or if they did rotations?
Also, what if in the future that particular professor is who you get stuck with?
If any of the above three are the case, and you've got tennis shoes, and one day end up with that guy, you're screwed.
I think I am going with this:
Not as trendy as the Converse or the Crocs, but still meets all of the criteria and looks half decent. The other shoes I've seen were just awful. I just wish they required black over white. In my opinion, black shoes would be easier to find.
Justin I like these shoes where did you find them?
They are Dansko clogs.
The one in the picture was for men, but they do have similar ones for women. Those particular clogs are called their "professional clogs." They are quite popular with actual practicing nurses and are supposedly (according to their maker) "scuff proof."
I've heard from those that have worn them that they are quite comfortable.
My friend who is the program now said to get comfy tennis shoes. She bought the white pumas but did recommend shox. I am not worried about those yet but I am def. getting tennis shoes. Those other shoes are just freakin ugly...hahah I REFUSE!! But yeah, like Chaos said we can worry about that later.
I bought my books at Majors... I got the package deal. Wasnt much of a difference than buying them online. The package cost $205. It brings the Taylors, Fundamentals, and the CD pack. I will order my dictionary from barnes and noble for $27 since I am a member. The rest of the books we wont need until clinicals (october) so I am not worried about those yet. Will cross that bridge once I get there.
YES, the scrub top is freakin ugly!!!! I AGREE :)

I think the shoes have to cover your heel. The all white leather SHOX & Pumas are good looking shoes and very comfy. I am going for one of those. Since they are pricey I will get them right before clinicals along with my stethoscope and whatever else we have to buy.
