HCC ADN Fall 2008 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL

Thanks!

That orientation was a nightmare. End of story.

WOW ours wasn't that bad just really really really borrrring!:sniff:

Well guys I didn't get accepted for the Fall.......their explanation was that "life isn't fair". I found out that people got accepted that shouldn't have and that left people like me out. I have all As and Bs in my classes and made a B in pharm with a 100 on the math the first time...although my Life Span is over 5 years old, I heard that some people didn't have all their class either and got accepted. Any way....I'm happy for all of yall!! Hopefully I will see yall this Spring.

Yeah, I agree. Some of the stuff was a waste of time. I dont like the fact that everyone is soo hostile and is soo competitive. I am soo happy that I atleast have my class & clinical with one of my study partners from my Pharm. class... Also, they accepted students over the 18o limit and sent a few people home!!!!! Talk about crushed dreams! Then they made people switch to the evening program OR start in the spring... so yeah. Then ms. Cole, oh gosh, I dont know about her yet. lol

They actually sent people home? Who is Mrs Cole?

Melissa will you have to retake your Lifespan class or will they accept it?

I'm so sad that they didn't accept you for this semester. But I agree with you in that the "accepting" process is not really "SET" so that there's a standard and you know how your going to get in, you know?. For instance, my friend, she applied AFTER the Fall Deadline, she had Pharm done already and so just had to take the math test, she passed and she was accepted. Got her acceptance letter first week of august. Now I'm glad she got in but HEY, that's UNFAIR for those that applied BEFORE the deadline and didn't get in, like you! So I really hope you get in the spring! GOOD LUCK!!!

That's just not right, that's so messed up! Can you imagine? Poor people! Atleast they can start in the spring....I guess.....but still.......

Sucks to hear your orientation didn't go as expected. As far as those that didn't get accepted or got deferred. There is always next semester and remember some ppl wont make it in b/c they will chose to go elsewhere or don't have the money.

Ms. Cole said we would be accepted in the Spring.....guess I'll have to wait and see. I guess that gives me time to take Life Span and maybe medical term....

Ms. Cole is the chairman....

Cole is the new dean of the nursing program. It used to be Rich but she was only temporary.

They called me out and pressured me (along with a group of about 20 other students) to switch to evenings. Ms. Grant said if we couldn't switch she would start forcing people to switch based on pharmacology grades. I was like, "Go ahead!" because I knew my grade would trump almost anyone's.

Ultimately, stayed with the day program.

Does anyone know if white Crocs are appropriate for the clinical setting? I would of course buy the ones that don't have any holes on the top and have the strap around the heel.

Would this be okay?

I'm not trying to test the rules or anything, but white, leather, non-tennis shoes are pretty hard to find unless they are HIDEOUS!

I knew they were gonna have that problem but I think it is fair to go by grades for the Summer pharm. It's just so many students!!!!
