Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL
Thanks!
OH!!! I found a lady that does the CPR certifications for only $40! She said to get a group together so we can meet. Its only for like 4 hours once a week and you are done.PM me if you are interested.
Thanks!!
Just make sure that the person will teach you 1 and 2 person CPR, bag mask device, rescue breathing, AED, and how to help someone who is choking, and that you will watch the AHA film and get to practice on manikins.
Ask before attending the class.
hey guys,i have a question about something that's confusing me a bit. under the fall 08 class schedule (pdf on the hccs website) it has the rnsg 1360 and 1513 classes and times listed (the classes that are given during the first semester of nursing). there are two class numbers under rnsg 1360 that have the class time set for 6:30am to 8:00am, while the other seven are listed as 6:30am to 12:30pm. the same applies to the evening classes (one listed as 5:00pm to 6:30pm and the other seven as 5:00pm to 11:00 pm). rnsg 1513 doesn't have this same scheduling difference. i'm assuming that the class is going to run from 6:30am to 12:30pm, but i was wondering if anyone has any insight as to why those few classes are listed like that. also, since these two classes only equal up to 8 semester hours, would we still be considered "full-time students"? i would assume yes, but who knows?
p.s. -- hope everyone is having fun in pharm....because i'm not.
i barely jerked out a "b" on that first test, so i'm hoping to do a little better on the lecture and math test we have coming up....crunch time sucks
the schedule there is just for display purposes only:rolleyes: they will give you their own schedule once you register.
but you have to decide whether you will attend day or evening clinicals, and lecture is on mondays only
hope that helps
why you say that? let me guess....Mrs Reyes! LOL!!
you know I didn't even listen to her lecture, b/c aint nothing in her lectures that make sense! her notes don't make sense! and niether do her damn stupid questions! the only thing that can help me is the book, I spent a whole afternoon outlining thoses chapters and making my own notes and it helped, I got a 90% on the quiz, but still I missed one! whow knows which one of her crazy questions I missed!
Im doing well in the class but, yup I still think it sucks. Especially with working full-time, a boyfriend and ummm... wanting sleep.
It could could aslo be that there is so much info and it is slapped into 2 months. I mean literally this should be broken up like AP 1/ AP2. But, I guess that's why its a "weed out" course.
I just keep a count down until July 30 and I can start hybernating a little until Fall starts. :)
Has anyone taken the lecture or the math test this week? Any suprises on the math test??? I was going over ch. 22 and I saw a few things on there that were not mentioned to us during the math lecture. I am a little concered that we will be responsible for it, but at this point..who knows!!!! ughhh IM SOOO NERVOUS!!! I have to take the math and the lecture test on the same exact day. Thats alot of freakin pressure and stuff to have down!!!!!!!! God help us all
well for those of us who took our math test today, GRADES ARE UP!!!
I GOT A 100%!!!!!!
Txgirl, go over these pages and if you can do these you should be fine:
481, 491, 509 (part a), 512, 514, 515, 525-529
I ask mrs grant what pgs in the book I could use to study using the formulas and those were the ones she gave me, it really helped if you can do those then you should be good with calculations, also on pg 514 use the gtt/min formula to figure those out, good luck!!

Ms. Grant said for the math test, you can show which way you moved the decimal point in the answer... that counts as showing your work. As for the other stuff... as long as you set it up (so she can see that you know what you are doing) is fine.... she said setup a + answer! I am going to ask her on saturday to double check though. I would def. double check on that.
Sounds like all of us here on allnurses are doing great :) Keep it up everyone!! Its go time now!
