HBU FNP 2017

Hey everyone,

I thought I'd start a thread for this since HBU has a new FNP program so there's not much information out there about it. I am applying for the Aug. 2017 start date and have submitted the req. docs. Anyone else thinking of applying or have any information?

I applied for the Aug. 2017 start date. I turned in all my docs as well, however they didn't tell me when a decision would be made. I just graduated from there in December with my BSN. Have you heard anything? Also are you applying anywhere else? I am looking for an online program that would allow me to work.

They emailed me back and said I would hear back for an interview this upcoming week and interviews will be held the week after that. I was planning to apply to TWU (I went there for BSN) and I applied at UTMB but they offered me AGNP instead so I turned it down. I think this school would allow you to work and do the program since its online. The only thing that worries me is that they are not yet accredited- did you notice that? They told me they would be before starting but the website hasn't been updated yet.

What type of questions were asked in your interview?

How is the program working for you? Would love an update on your progress.

I have been accepted into the Spring 2018 FNP program. Was wondering how it is like for you guys who started in 2017. Classes, instructor, being an online program, the work load?

Thanks!

Bncrowd1- I actually didn't have to do the interview after all. They said based on my information I was accepted but there are people who were interviewed.

So far the program is good but this is the first semester. The only thing we've had an issue with is clinical sites because at first we were told they were going to place us but then they said we have to find our own. The workload is great because the classes are 8 weeks and its one class at a time which awesome because of work. The staff is very nice and helpful

Thank you for your feedback!

What class did you take first? Any suggestions on finding inexpensive books?

Hey guys,

We will be taking Theory Integration for our first class. They require use to buy three books? Do we really need them? Can we buy them used if so? Thanks

Hey guys. I'm starting HBU's FBP program in spring 2018 as well. I have already ordered the tree books they recommended. I do not know anyone who has attended this university in the past and would appreciate any input onn the program. I'm excited to begin this journey :)

I have ordered the books through amazon!

I ordered and rented them through Amazon. If anyone is interested in Amazon Prime memebrship they offer a discounted price for students. Also, for theory you will need two books for sure (Chinn & Kramer and Smith & parker books) however the APA book you can do without if you are familiar with writing papers in APA syle. It is useful to have either way.
