HBU FNP 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone,

I thought I'd start a thread for this since HBU has a new FNP program so there's not much information out there about it. I am applying for the Aug. 2017 start date and have submitted the req. docs. Anyone else thinking of applying or have any information?

I ordered and rented them through Amazon. If anyone is interested in Amazon Prime memebrship they offer a discounted price for students. Also, for theory you will need two books for sure (Chinn & Kramer and Smith & parker books) however the APA book you can do without if you are familiar with writing papers in APA syle. It is useful to have either way.

Any progress updates regarding this program would be appreciated. I have applied for the Fall 2018 class.

Hi,

Any updates on how the FNP program is going? I am considering it for fall 2018 but the fact that they are not accredited worries me a little, and how much would you spend on books for a year? if anyone can tell me this...on top of the $18,000...Thank you!!

I am in the program now and they are accredited by SASCOC and TBON. I buy all my books from amazon and ebay so per semester I've spent maybe 200$? maybe less, depends on the semester.

How is the FNP program at HBU? I was accepted and now I am debating on going to HBU or TTUHSC! Any suggestions?

Would you recommend the program, please advise?

I don't know much about TTUHSC but this program overall is good. We've had some issues here and there but I am part if the first group (the program is new) so that was to be expected. I'm sure it will only get better for the next groups. It is almost 100% online but we do have some upcoming face to face days. The major thing I don't like is that we weren't assisted with preceptors but they are working in getting affiliations.

Do you feel like you have been well prepared? Like you have learned a lot and whatnot?? Interested to hear how comments or thought from anyone in the program! Thanks!

Hi!

I am looking into HBU FNP and would like some insight on the program. I know it is fairly new and I am wondering how organized it is since it is very new.

Would you recommend the program?

What school is this? How long is the program and how much does it cost altogether? Do they need RN experience or is a BSN good enough? Thanks!

How about the clinicals for FNP in HBU? Is it ok to do the clinicals outside Texas? or it has to be in Texas or Houston area? Thanks!

Sorry haven't been keeping up much with the posts.

1. I am almost done with the program will be graduating this summer and I do feel prepared. It is a mostly online program so how prepared you are depends on how much work you put in.

2. It is actually organized for it being a new program. I am part of the first cohort and i think it is. Also I would recommend. The program will only get better from here.

3. This is Houston Baptist University, cost is around 18k, not sure about experience.

4. I am sure it doesn't have to be in Texas or Houston since it is online. I haven't had that issue because i live in Texas.
