I've been accepted in the LVN program at local community college. I've hit a few roadblocks and have had to clear so many hurdles to prepare for this. The past couple of months, I have had to remedy a background check with the BON nearly preventing me from entering the program (cleared that), deal with costly immunization updates, titers, etc., and NOW, my financial aid is suspended just two weeks before class begins, not to mention the summer course must be paid in full by next week! I'M HAVING A MELTDOWN! I get this uneasy feeling that I will lose my opportunity due to financial aid. I know its still the weekend, and come Monday I must sort this out. I am feeling a sense of loss. I have worked so hard to get to this point for it all to be swept away.

Down and out :(

Sorry to hear of your plight. Hope you are able to find an emergency source of funding. If you own your car, you might be able to obtain a title loan, but the payback is astronomical, almost 100% interest.

Have you considered student loans? I know it's not ideal but they can help pay for school without having to pay back until you're finished with school. Good luck, I hope you can figure it out!

Financial aid is a way for those that qualify to get ahead, get OFF of government rolls.

Lets not get off topic and instead help the original poster.

Yikes! I would have to say I agree with TruamaRU staff......

Talk about harsh....

Ok, deep breath.....Why is your financial aid suspended? I ask because without knowing why, it's hard to give you ideas on what to do next. Go through the appeals process anyway, it might take awhile, but you never know. Have you met face to face with fin aid? It's easy for them to push you off over the phone. Least in my experience anyway.

yes, i have appealed, awaiting confirmation/response from financial aid. my aid was suspended due to academic progress. last semester i dropped an algebra class because i was able to 'test out' on tsi accuplacer. this course is not a requirement for lvn program offered. i was only taking the course out of necessity. it is required to take to take a developmental course should a deficiency reveal in any one area of the enrollment test. in my case, it is math. i did meet with financial aid yesterday. they insisted i fill out appeal, and submit my academic plan for review. i can only hope that it will be acceptable. this is an temporary emotional upset because i have come this far only to get bad news. the waiting is the hardest part. because as of this very moment, my financial aid is uncertain, and i'm not quite sure how i will find the funding to pay for this summer semester. i feel i will lose my seat in this class which only comes around 'once' a year! arrghhhhh!

Hey Pinkled please dont worry I had this happen to me and I had to complete a action type plan for what I will do differently etc..and they accepted that and with in a few days my fininacial aid was reinstated.

You will be fine.

I am considering my options. Yes, a lot of thought is going into to applying for a student loan. I was hoping I would not have to do that, however, it may be my only option. TY

It's very nice to see reassurance here on this site. TY

Were you ever on financial aid probation prior to being on suspension...? Almost all schools I know of warn you and put you on financial aid probation for a semester before stripping your financial aid.
