I've been accepted in the LVN program at local community college. I've hit a few roadblocks and have had to clear so many hurdles to prepare for this. The past couple of months, I have had to remedy a background check with the BON nearly preventing me from entering the program (cleared that), deal with costly immunization updates, titers, etc., and NOW, my financial aid is suspended just two weeks before class begins, not to mention the summer course must be paid in full by next week! I'M HAVING A MELTDOWN! I get this uneasy feeling that I will lose my opportunity due to financial aid. I know its still the weekend, and come Monday I must sort this out. I am feeling a sense of loss. I have worked so hard to get to this point for it all to be swept away.
Down and out
No problem.Dont let some of the people here still you joy, keep your head up and you WILL be fine. Dont even entertain negative comments here. You know who are and thats what matters.
Good luck!
Thank you very much for your kind comment. I am under a lot of stress right now as you know. I am only hoping for positive insight.
Were you ever on financial aid probation prior to being on suspension...? Almost all schools I know of warn you and put you on financial aid probation for a semester before stripping your financial aid.
No, never on probation. This is a first. I haven't been to school/college in over 25 years. I graduated from high school in 1986. So, starting new path in life. A career as a health profressional. Job stability indeed.
Sorry to hear of your plight. Hope you are able to find an emergency source of funding. If you own your car, you might be able to obtain a title loan, but the payback is astronomical, almost 100% interest.
LOL. agreed payback is outrageous. I'm hoping I do not have to take that road. Thanks for your response. :)
Hmmm...I would talk to someone then, because someone I know went through something similar, but after a semester of "unsatisfactory academic progress" they are supposed to put you on financial aid probation, in which you still receive aid the next semester but you have to meet certain guidelines.
I've never heard of anyone being on financial aid suspension without being on probation first.

I'm thinking that is a very likely possibility. Considering my academic plan, enrollment in the LVN program, and a 3.0 GPA, this may help my appeal. It's the uncertainty of what steps I must take to keep my seat in the program, with only two weeks away, I'm going to have to beg and borrow to pay for summer tuition by tommorrow. Ohhhh the insanity! LOL
This is a horrible situation! I never received financial aid until I lost my job, and now that I have it, I know exactly how lucky I am. It can be a miserable and trying time especially for those trying to get back in school and start a productive life. Have you checked with the WIA? I'm only asking because I know someone that is in the program, they pay for childcare, books, transportation, tuition, etc. Sometimes there's a waiting list, and right now funds are limited, but it's a really good program if all else fails.

No, I have not checked with WIA. Could you please send me a link? Thank You! :)
