I will be finishing up the ADN program here in Texas and instead of taking the nclex here, am I eligable to take the test in a different state like RI or CT even if I went to school in a different state? I am asking because we are moving the month I finish nursing school and I dont think I will have enough time to prepare for the nclex; also, I want to start an internship in CT or RI and they typically start in June.. I went to the BON website and I didnt see a real answer.. The only thing I found was applying for licensure in that particular state after I recieved licensure in my state. I am really confused

I would give your BON as well as the state's BON where you are interested in taking the exam if you would be able to sit for NCLEX. Good luck!

I completed school in California, and took NCLEX in Texas after moving there. NCLEX can be taken anywhere it is offered, including all 50 states, Hong Kong, and so forth.

yes. I went to school in NH and took boards for MA. Remember you need to apply to the BON in the state in which you will work. If you apply to CT BON and take the boards in RI, that means you can work in CT not RI...

CT and RI also have graduate nurse status so if you find an internship or new grad position in one of those states, you can be working as a grad nurse while you prepare to take your boards

I will be finishing here in CT next month but applied to AZ. Make sure you find out what the requirements are because I had to send my application 2 months prior to graduation, have them mail me a fingerprint card etc. Then they just wait for official transcripts. I sent my application last month and am now awaiting pinning.
Good luck!

Most States BON approves all the school they sanction in their own State, of course, but then, generally, most NLN approved schools in other States, as well.
If your school is NLN, then check with the BON of the State you want to seek initial licensure in, and it shouldn't be a problem. If your school isn't an NLN school, then you will probably have to query that board about the specific program you are attending.
I think a few BONs word their language that they will accept an out of State program if the home State has approved that program, as well.
But, I went to nursing school in MD and took my boards in TX.
