Come on down! I plan on spending my recovery on the beach and to start eating those fattening foods I've been missing for the last few months. I've known I needed this done since January, but had to save up the money for it... so it's April for me.

Your surgeon warned you about your increased risk of pancreatitis didn't he/she?
Do you have Yahoo or ICQ??

Uhhhhh........not so fast there, Fergus! It took me a couple of months to be able to tolerate fatty foods, and even now, eight months after my lap chole, I still have a lot of bloating, diarrhea and GI upset when I overdo it with the fried or greasy stuff. (Of course, I shouldn't be eating it anyway........:uhoh21: )
I might add that since my surgery, I also have developed rather explosive intestinal gas whenever I eat high-fiber foods; these days even the average bowl of Shredded Wheat tends to turn into a howler on its way through the GI tract, and it hurts when it........well.........exits.:imbar :imbar :imbar So I find myself avoiding cereal, legumes, and other supposedly healthy foods because I can't handle those either.
Now, this does NOT mean that everyone will have these issues post-chole; I'm just advising y'all to go slow with the steak and the chili fries for a while. Besides, your surgeon will probably save your gallstones and give them to you in a nice little jar if you want; every so often I take a good look at mine to remind me that I really don't want to eat so much junk.

I think I might be headed in that direction. It hurts when I eat and a few years ago, I had an ultrasound that showed 'biliary sludge'. Do you have to avoid all fats after cholecystectomy? Is it a difficult recovery? Do you get alot of diarrhea?
Thanks
