Have You Had Your Gall Bladder Out?

I think I might be headed in that direction. It hurts when I eat and a few years ago, I had an ultrasound that showed 'biliary sludge'. Do you have to avoid all fats after cholecystectomy? Is it a difficult recovery? Do you get alot of diarrhea?

This is a year old thread y'all. I had mine out in 96 and aside from shoulder pain from the abd. insufflation very little pain. LOT of diarrhea though....had to stay really near the loo. Then last year all the sx returned. Seems I had "sphincter of oddi dysfunction." Say that fast 3 times.

Anyway the usual pressure to open the pancreatic duct is like 30 something and mine took 300 mm hg. So a sphincterotomy, stent and an overnight stay and no more Post Choly sx. My doc is like one of only half dozen in the country who specialized in this study. It's like night and day preop and now.
