My first day of Fundamentals of Nursing class consisted of learning how to make a bed with a patient in it. We were in groups of 3 with 2 making the bed and 1 playing the role of patient in the bed. I was the patient in the bed and remember, these were my fellow students that I would spend the next two years with, but hardly knew at the time.
So when it came time for them to move me up in the bed with the draw sheet, apparently I tensed up and of course, farted. I was so humiliated. I don't remember one of the girls, but the other girl and I studied together alot and she always teased me about it. In the nicestossible way, of course:eek:
Lmao... Ok, you should read this. (Warning, there are some controversial things on this blog and not everyone will find it funny. If you are sensitive maybe give it a miss).

Made me feel better to read this after a particularly bloated night.
I used to work with a nurse who would shout down the hall "don't come down here! I farted!"
funny....my very first thought was to respond with, "aaaaand breathe" (as a yoga teacher or xray tech would say).
or the old go-to: "who stepped on a duck?"
other than that, i would probably blurt out one of the others' names.
or i would die.
sorry this happened to you, but i am still giggling.

Hi.lar.i.ous.
As much as I'm sure you wanted to put a on your head, it's just a fart. You didn't endanger patient safety with it.
I've had plenty of patients who would pass some gas as we've boosted them in bed or walk the halls, and couldn't be happier- meant that their GI systems were returning to normal post-surgery!

I'm in my 4th semester of my BSN program, working as an aide for a local hospital. Today I accidentally farted in front of a patient and his wife; a very nice older couple. They were awaiting discharge instructions and I went in to get one last round of VS. I was so embarrassed I had to avoid eye contact and leave as fast as possible. Thankfully I was sitting 1:1 most of the day!
