Has Anyone Taken Statistics

Published

Hi guys! Has anyone taken Statistics if so is it hard? Did you take it with any other courses? If so did it take up a lot if your study time? Any recommendations on study material and or apps?

I as well took it last summer during 6 weeks. I had to miss an entire week though because I rode my bike from San Francisco to LA. Like I said, statistics is only a hard class if you have a bad teacher. Really, the subject matter is difficult to understand unless you're adept at mathematics.

I took stats this past fall semester. It wasn't too bad for me. Overall, just make sure you keep up the work. If you fall behind you will make it that much harder for yourself. If you start to get confused use the resources you have (professor, math tutors, math help center, etc.) as each chapter tends to build off the one before.

I found statistics to be the most difficult prereq. It took up almost all of my study time. Thank goodness I had an awesome professor and study partner.

I just took it. I got an A but I worked hard for it. Study and get help when you need it.

Stats was easy to me. I took stats twice. Regular stats and stats for my major (Psych).

Statistics is only easy if you have a professor that knows how to teach it. That or if you know how to teach yourself math. If you have a bad teacher, it's an easy class to fail.

I agree! I took Statistics last spring with 3 other classes (I think it was 13 credits total...) and managed a B. My professor has a background in Statistics and was also working on her Ph.D that semester as well. It all depends on your professor and how it's taught because it can either be the easiest class or one of the hardest classes in pre-requisites.

I took Statistics last year and did very well. I took it with 4 other classes and was able to balance it all. I think what helped me was that my professor was pretty easy going and explained things very well. It's not a very difficult subject to understand, just formulas to remember, when to use them, and what to plug in where. Do the homework assigned even if the professor doesn't check to see if you did it. It's good practice and is a great way to study! Best of luck! :)

Coming from someone who isn't that wonderful at math, I did just fine in statistics. It really depends on if you have a good professor. My professor was/is EXCELLENT, the class we had was at night, and there were only 8 people in the class. Very excellent camraderie with the professors and other students. I took it with 3 other classes and it was no biggie. Go to Rate My Professors – Review Professors and Teachers, School Reviews, College Campus Ratings and read reviews about professors at your school that teach Stats. I'm telling you... When it comes to math subjects, the professor can make or break your experience.

My recommendation: Don't be terrified of Stats. It isn't that bad. It is actually kind of interesting and fun. Get comfortable using excel. You can find a lot of the formulas online that will do the calculations for you. There are a lot of professors who put tutorials and formulas online.

I took Stats a few years ago and I am not a math gal. On my first exam I got a 57%...By not giving up and focusing on the concepts because that's what stats is all about Concepts and formulas that teachers will give you typically. By not giving up I ended up getting a "B" by the end of the semester...mine you all my other pre-reqs are high so I am grateful although I am still waiting on the rn program....I just got to use the same mind-set for my teas exam!!! good luck doll you can do it!

I think it takes understanding of the given concept its not hard unless you lose focus! Because once I got that down I was able to bring my grade up high enough!!!! (just to answer your question)

I took it the first semester of my nursing program. I didn't find it hard at all and I barely spent any time on it. I'm good at math, and I've already completed Calculus I & II.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

I had a great teacher (LOVE RateMyProfessors.com!!), so the class wasn't boring, and it really wasn't hard. She explained things really well. Stay on top of stuff, and ask questions as they come up, and you'll do fine.
