Sooo I'm going to be a freshman in college this fall and i'm trying to pick out my classes. I was going to take English 1, College Algebra, Chem1 and A&P 1 (both with labs) and a mandatory freshman class which is mostly just like a study hall for a total of 17 credit hours. Would it be wise if I took Micro, Chem 1 and A&P 1 with labs in one semester instead? I won't be working or anything but I do have to commute on a train for about 30minutes which I think I can use as study time.
Tell me what you guys think or about your past experiences!
I wouldn't take chemistry, A&P I, and microbiology together if I can help it because science classes are so much more intensive for me to comprehend. Adding one more science class would shove me off the Dean's list. I put in so much studying time to get an A in both biology and chemistry fall 2010 semester!
I would hold off on taking microbiology for next semester.
You know your limits better than I so if you think you can handle it then
go for it.
Do you work or have kids? Are those the only classes you'll be taking this semester? How are you preparing for them?
I have two boys (5 and 7) but I do not work full time. These three are the only ones I'll be taking. I took four last semester (A/P1, Stats, Nutrition, and Lifespan) and managed to do really, really well. (As in all except Lifespan, B in that one) I've got lots of notes from a friend who took A/P 2 last semester. She gave me all her flash cards, notes and lab pics so I have been sifting through those. Other than that, I'm going to go with the flow.. :)

Wow. Good luck with everything! If you aren't too busy can you keep me updated how your classes are going? Because I'm really curious to know if it's doable before I begin registration in june.
I have taken three sciences at once. I took Nutrition, Bio Chem and Stats in one term. I did really well except these were my last prereqs after returning to school for a year. Now most colleges here require NAC certifications to apply so I'm working on that this term. If I could do things differently I would have done my NAC program the summer before returning to school.
Does your high school have running start program with a community college? Here it's a way for high school seniors to take college classes while still in high school. For instance if you enter Spring term and only need two high school classes to graduate you could take those in the morning and then one or two college courses in the afternoon. I didn't do it but I have a few friends whose daughters are in the program for this spring.
Another option would be trying to take a class over the summer break through community college. That way you would have the sciences done by the end of fall term without doing too much at once.

I took chem 1,microbiology and physiology all with labs at the same time and still managed to make deans list. It is hard but if you put the time into studying you will be fine.
