Has anyone purchased these items on Ebay. Are they part of the skills check off? Are they worth the purchase or helpful?

Those are part of the CPNE, yes. I purchased my wound and supplies from the company listed on the EC website, rather than eBay -- just wanted to make sure that I had everything I was supposed to have!

I bought a wound simulator on Ebay. It was home made but good quality and looked almost exactly like the one that EC's contractor sells. I paid $20 as opposed to EC's $38. I also bought the skills bag from EC's contractor.

Hey guys, sorry I am late for the topic! This might seem a silly ? but are these requirements or just extras to study with? I have not read anywhere about needing to purchase wound trays. Maybe I am just not far enough along yet? Thanks!!

You don't have to buy them but you will have to check off on the skill during the CPNE. It would be wise to buy them and practice.

Just a thought for those that need to save a little $$, I got a picture of the wound off of EC's site, bought some styrofoam and made my own wound. I practiced with that until I was comfortable with the skill set. Maybe try something like that to practice with??

I did the same thing too. I bought styrofoam and latex paint and made my own wound. I even colored in the wound red and had some bone poking through. My husband thought I was one sick puppy. But every night I practiced packing with my watch next to me to make sure I did it within 15 minutes. It was cheap, easy, and effective!

Hey Luna! Where on Ec website does it list the contractor for the wound & IV kit. I have been looking around but can't find anything. Thanks!!!

It's on the CPNE Skill Kit Order Form on the publications request page. It says for online ordering, "go to http://www.courseyenterprises.com, at upper right side of page click on Customer Log In, fill in username: excelsior (lower case letters) and password: k1411, click login." :)

Thanks, that was much easier than I had been trying to make it!

Do you students have to buy all this. The only things we had to purchase in Qld was a stethescope, nurse's watch, scissors, calculator and digital thermometer in addition to our books. When we had labs all the guaze, saline, IV ab powder (or pretend ones) were all available. I find this absolutely incredible.

when ec students do their clinical exam the supplies will be provided but we need to practice prior to doing our clinical exam... we only one opportunity to pass. this is completely different than a regular nursing school clinical.
