Has anyone applied for January Residency programs at Baylor Health Care System??

Published

I kind of got a late start, but applied to several of the internship/residency programs at Baylor for January. I am just wondering if anyone has applied and gotten a response or an interview? I received the standard email stating that they have received my application, but nothing else. If you know anything about the program.... what they look for, how competitive it is..... if you have heard anything....how many positions available, etc.... Please post!!!!!

I was looking to relocate and willing to move without assistance and I am willing to travel to interview.

Hollyj716, did u contact them for an interview or did they call u? And I definitely feel your pain! Im a may grad also!

Did you let them know that you are willing to relocate? When I first applied, I sent a separate email to the nurse recruiter with a little extra info regarding flexibility of scheduling, how the area I was applying to was my passion, resume/cover letter, etc. During my phone screening, they asked me if I was willing to relocate and if I planned on making Dallas a long term home. It also took them over a month for them to contact me.

I know Parkland in Dallas is also hiring for January Internships. I got a call inviting me for an interview, but I declined.

I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks for the responses everyone!

DestinedRN09, I called all the contacts I could find within the GN job postings and finally spoke to a recruiter for the med/surg internships, then scheduled the soonest phone interview. I told him that I was willing to visit for an interview on my own expenses and relocate without assistance also, but I was told that they factor relocation expenses into the selection process anyways :( Where are you relocating from?

lweatherby, congrats on getting a spot with bone marrow transplant! Where are you relocating from? Cross your fingers for me :)

CrxTech, congrats to you too! Yes, I let them know I was extremely flexible and willing to relocate. Did you end up getting a spot with the NICU or the PACU? I applied for Parkland, but wasn't accepted because I don't have a TX license yet.

If anyone has contact info for the nurse recruiters at Baylor, can you pm me?

Keep your fingers crossed for me and DestinedRN09!

CrxTech, thanks for responding. Wow, thats a great idea to send emails to express further interest. Im relocating from Minnesota.

HollyJ716, Im calling today, so hopefully I get an interview :) You can visit the website and all of the internships have recruiter contact numbers. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the information everyone.

I live in Texas, but about 2 hrs east of dallas. There was never any discussion of relocation expenses..... probably because it really isn't an issue for me because I live fairly nearby.

hey! to answer your question...i just had 2 interviews last weekend. One with the transplant/surgical icu supervisor and the other with the Trauma ICU supervisor...both went really well. The transplant interview was very laid back and the trauma one was relaxed, but I was asked a lot of behavior-based interview questions. Both showed me around the units and introduced me to nurses to get their opinion of the floor. They said they would be contacting me soon...Both seem like really great places to work! good luck everyone!

Anyone else have any interviews?

I got a job at another hospital in he area and was an out of state applicant. They don't offer relocation expenses for their new grads. It's really nice if Baylor does. I flew there for the interview, the trip cost around $600 all together. But I knew I'd be relocating out of state, so planned on the expense. They offered video conferencing interviews but I think showing up in person shows more commitment. Plus i couldn't imagine accepting a job at a hospital I've never seen.

Good luck to everyone applying. It is a great feeling to know you have a job before graduation!

Annaiya, were you offered a position at Baylor? If so, what floor did you interview for?

Thanks,

Holly

No, I got a job at Cook Children's, not Baylor. I looked a little at Baylor, but I wanted a children's hospital. For Cook, you don't apply to a floor, because you spend your first year rotating between different units, then you decide where you want to work at the end of that year.

I wouldn't worry about the relocation. I think most people in the September group were from out of state. Several of them had phone interviews only and were hired based on that. Good luck.

Thank you meddatate, I've had one phone interview, but I'm headed there next weekend to interview for a different unit :)

Were you part of the September internship program?

Hi!! I got a job offer @ Baylor a few weeks ago too! What internship and where??

Hey! I got an offer in the Trauma ICU (4North) in the GN internship program! Where did you get an offer??? Congrats!
