Has anyone applied for January Residency programs at Baylor Health Care System??

Published

I kind of got a late start, but applied to several of the internship/residency programs at Baylor for January. I am just wondering if anyone has applied and gotten a response or an interview? I received the standard email stating that they have received my application, but nothing else. If you know anything about the program.... what they look for, how competitive it is..... if you have heard anything....how many positions available, etc.... Please post!!!!!

Hey everyone, I just got a job offer for trauma/general surgery at BUMC in Dallas! Super excited and can't wait to move?

So who's relocating and how is the process going for you?

Yay!! Congratulations! What's your start date?

I'm relocating and am having a really hard time deciding on an apartment. Other than that, I'm just really ready to graduate (14 days) and get started packing and all that fun stuff that comes with moving. Good luck with everything and let us know how it's going.

I am relocating but only from about two hours away. I am starting earlier than most of the GN positions. I already have an apartment right across from Baylor Dallas. My hospital orientation is Dec 7. Where are you guys relocating from?

I'm relocating from Boston, starting on the 18th and I'm just now starting to look for an apartment. It'd be awesome to meet you all at orientation!

I accepted a position at Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton in the Emergency Room.

I should start the 18th. Did the background check, now just waiting for the next instruction. I am relocating from Az. :-)

I accepted a position in the PCU at Grapevine. Did the background check and waiting for my offer to come in the mail before I sign a lease. I was told I start Jan. 4th. I am relocating from Minnesota and am really excited, but also really nervous. I don't know anyone who lives in Texas!

You are brave ones, relocating from across the country! I'm only relocating from about 350 miles away, and I'm sad to be leaving my mom. I won't know anyone either, just my husband, but I'm hoping to make friends with my fellow orientees. Just put an application and deposit on an apartment yesterday. I received my offer letter, but can't start any of the background checks until the 18th of December.

You guys are really moving across country!!! I will be glad to help you guys in any way I can. If you need a place to crash while you look for a place to live or do your paperwork, I have an apartment in Dallas already. I can't imagine trying to move from that far away. Just give me a yell if I can assist.

Happy holidays everyone! How is the apartment search going? Can anyone can give me some insight on apartments around BUMC? Where to avoid, where to look? All the apartments look great online, but when I go to googlemaps and see the street-view they look a bit seedy . . .

Please reply! Thanks!

I don't know specific areas down by BUMC since I will be more North but I used free relocators for help. If you go to Apartmentguide.com or DFWPads.com they can send you a list of apartments in the area with additional information-or you can call them. Apartmentratings.com is also a good place to see what people say about each complex. Not sure if that will be helpful or not but best of luck!

Holly,

I sent you a pm, but don't know if you got it. I can give you some input as to what are NOT to move to. I don't know everything about Dallas, but I did a lot of research regarding safe areas before I moved. If you can tell me where you are looking, I can give some input.

I know this thread is old but I wanted to ask how everything is enjoying the residency program. I'm thinking of applying for June 2010, when I graduate. I've talked to a recruiter there already because I want to have something before I graduate. I'm also out of state and planning on visiting during my spring break. I'm interested in ICU and telemetry.

Let me know how you guys are loving (or hating!) Baylor and what you would recommend for an applicant from out of town! Thanks!
