Has any one gotten urine or anything on them accidentely from a patient when you were trying to clean them or something?

I got pooped on for the first time Sunday, I was cleaning a woman up when she coughed and it shot onto my scrubs :barf01: I finished her up than trashed my scrubs..... not a good feeling, the others laughed at me because i was so upset, they told me it would happen sooner or later

I've thrown mine away, too, depending on which they were and how bad the mess was. I can't imagine someone's feces going all around my washing machine. :barf01:

Years ago i worked as an MA for a gynecologist. He had a woman up in stirrups, speculum in place. As i handed him a swab and a glass slide, "i want to show you something". I leaned in and as he stuck a swab near the entry to the lady parts a bit of mucous splat on my nose . I could have died!

One of residents constantly has loose to watery bm due to some digestive issues. I transferred him one day and his knees gave out all of a sudden. It was all I could do to get him to the toilet and keep him off the floor. During all of this I managed to get bm all over my scrub top because his backside was covered in it since he was incontinent. I didn't realize it right away though. I'm sitting there charting and chatting with my nurse and I tell her I still had the smell of bm stuck in my nose and look down and there it is. I didn't have extra scrubs, but my hall has a washer and dryer so I washed my top. Thank goodness most of residents were in bed because I had to go around in my cami while I waited for my top to dry. During all of this our new CEO decides to do a meet and greet and she happens to come by while I'm wondering around half dressed because my scrub top was in the wash. I had to explain what happened and made a joke about of it. She laughed it off, but I was so embarrassed. Long story short, carry extra scrubs. You're probably going to need them at one point or another.

I've been puked on, pooed on, pee'd on, and bled on. I carry extra uniform now :)

Yep, regularly. I have a resident right now with a bad skin condition that weeps fluid and blood, and it's almost impossible to change her in bed without getting any on me. It'd be easier with 2 people, but I work noc so I'm on my own there! :smackingf

I am a BSN student and today I had a patient with a colostomy bag. I was given the task, during her shower, to change the bag and clean her up. At some point I must have stepped into what had fallen to the shower floor and not noticed it. I smelled something on my way home and thought poop was on my clothing. I got in my car later that day and I still smelled it. Thats when I thought about my shoes....I totally had it on the bottom of my sneaker and had driven for an hour with it on the bottom. I'm sure its not ground into my car rug and I'll have to figure out how to get it. I am not upset, its kind of funny, and I learned a valuable lesson, ALWAYS look at your shoes when dealing with poop!

It's unavoidable. I would finish whatever I was doing and wash my hands or the area that got urine on immediately and thoroughly.

Oh I forgot this other zinger. There is a lady who is SUPER contracted. Well on day shift they always transfer her in a hoyer life, which bends her body a little. Usually they have a brief on her because when this happens, you hear a rumbling like a thunderstorm and she has the largest liquid BM's you've ever seen in your life. Well one day they were transferring her out of the shower chair and couldn't put a brief on her. I wasn't there, but she exploded BM everywhere. A couple people had to change and when I came in for evening shift, most of her stuff from her room was missing (including the privacy curtain!) -- sent to the wash!

Some guy took a big, loose stool dump on some nice light blue men's scrub pants (with all the cool pockets I like) while I was transfering him from the wheelchair to the commode a month or so back.

Fortunately, the charge nurse had a pair of dark green camo-colored scrubs in the office so I did not have to spend the rest of the shift covered in a massive brown spot.

I did kind of look like a fruit with mismatched light blue top and an ugly green bottom!
