  1. If you go to work and tell your boss you can't stay, then they say " ok, clock out, you're suspended until you talk to me". After 3 attempts, you finally speak with them and tell you that you're terminated because of job abandonment and you're lucky they didn't report you to the board. Was that considered job abandonment?
  2. It happened to me once and It's been on my mind. I've been feeling like I'm the worst aide and how could i let it happen. I know there is a risk of this happening but i was feeling down about it. Like it was my fault and i should have done something different.I'm so happy i found this web site, because you can talk about everything here that everyone is afraid to talk about in the real world. I was feeling like it was the first time in history this happened or something. No body talks.
  3. Has any one gotten urine or anything on them accidentely from a patient when you were trying to clean them or something?
  4. I decided to take my CNA class when i was pregnant with my 3rd child because i always wanted to be in the medical field ,but kept letting myself get distracted. I've been working as a CNA for 2months now and have decided that I'm not going to go further into nursing. I've had alot of jobs and this one is the most stressful. I enjoy working with the patients , but the overal job is too much. I'm thinking of going into occupational therapy.
  5. I wish i was told that too. That has been one of the biggest surprises about the job so far.
  6. $8.50hr and 10cents for 2nd shift. I live in south FL.
  7. I have been feeling the same way. I been working as a CNA for 3 weeks now and i think i'm bad at it too.But at the same time i still want to do my LPN. I just feel like i don't catch on like everyone. Sometimes i think i take alot longer with my patients than everybody else or i need more help with my patients than everyone. I'm one of the small ones, so i need help with the lifting. Things just aren't going as smoothly as i thought. I thought about quiting twice this week, but deep down i really don't want to.
  8. I completely my CNA program when I was 8months pregnant. I started a 6week challenger course when i was 6months pregnant and passed my exam at 8months pregnant. If your course involves clinicals, i think you'll still be able to do it because usually you are paired up with someone from your class and they usually avoid assigning you patients that need to be lifted if they see that you're pregnant.
  9. I was wondering if anyone did their LPN program online, how was it if you did and does anyone know what schools in south florida offer an online program.
  10. I was just wondering if everyone is pretty much going to have experience with collecting specimen from patients, as a CNA and how often is this assigned, rarely or often?
  11. I just recieved my first job as a CNA, I start on monday. Even though I haven't started yet, i know how you feel because i was volunteering at the hospital to get some experience because i couldn't find anyone to hire me, because of no experience. Anyway, they let me take a patients blood pressure and i was so nervous and it wasn't because i didn't know what i was doing, i just froze up. By the 3rd week, i looked like i'd been working at the hospital for months. Everyone is a little nervous in the begin, Just be confident and give your self time to adjust to the new job. I will be a nervous next week too, because it's my first CNA job, but i'm just going to be confident and do my best. I know that the nervousness will pass. Hang in there, you'll be fine :)
  12. Sorry to hear about your job difficulty. I recieved my CNA in September 09 and just found a job, I start on monday. I got tired of walking in and putting application because alot of the places were just accepting applications, so no call backs. So I started calling a list of health facilities in my area to see if they were hiring and i found 3. The first place i went to hired me. I think they pay more attention to you when they actually need people. You can call hundreds of places in just one week. Maybe you can try that way if you didn't already. Good Luck :)
  13. they called me, I start on monday.I'm so excited:lol2:
  14. I couldn't take it any more, and i called them today. The woman in HR told me that they recieved my drug test results and i'm cleared. She said someone should be calling me shortly. My Name was sent along with others for pending employment so maybe they're putting orientation together for us.
