So what is everyone's take on wearing costumes on halloween at work?Does it depend on facility (like hospital vs a rest home or what not)?
And what kind of costume seems unfitting or inappropriate if you feel you should be able to wear them?
My facility does wear costumes and has a contest each year voted on by the residents (assisted living facility). So far everyone has been very appropriate in dress, nothing short, nothing morbid at all. But one year a gal dressed like an angel and a resident said that was horrible to remind people they are going to die??? AN ANGEL??? OH well, can't please everyone.
Please feel free to share funny stories too :)
Yes, depends on facility, like hospital, a rest home or whatever. BTW, in regard to the resident that took offense to the angel costume... at least the resident was confident they would be around angels in there afterlife. :chuckle

Better and Angel costume than a Devil costume.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
That or a Grim Reaper costume...don't think that would be a very good idea! "Hi, I am Triage your nurse"...*patient screams and codes*....
My hubby who is a paramedic would LOVE to dress up for halloween but not feasable. I always ask for Halloween off so I don't need to worry about work and dressing up! Got a great costume this year, Little Red Riding Hood with a knee topper skirt and HUGE peticoat that is so puffy and cute...I could take an eye out with that skirt if I was at work..LOL!
I have a friend who'se hubby was taken into the ER on Halloween. Anyway, whatever was going on, he must've been unconscious because he says, when he woke up, he was surrounded by Devils, the Grim Reaper and all sorts of weird things. For a moment, he was sure he had died and gone the wrong direction. :chuckle
I work in Social Services, so I definitely plan on dressing up! I am going "goth" this year.

I'd LOVE to see that, Sarah.
Comment on the thread in general: Dressing up is fun, but consider your enviroment. For office work, there's usually not a problem. As far as hospital work, well, I'm all for having fun but I'd be sure I'd have a costume I could remove if things got bad. I think it'd be a little difficult if you worked in a critical care area (or ED) and you'd have to inform a parent that their child had died, all the while one is wearing a clown suit with a big red nose.
Have fun, but choose carefully. :)
