Does anyone know anything about GW hosptial and the working conditions?

Specializes in Adult SICU; open heart recovery.

Never worked there myself, but have heard not so great things about it from a couple of other nurses. It's too bad -- the hospital itself is beautiful!

Well I have one friend who works ER and says that A) it's super hard because they do team nursing. Some of the nurses I work with at Hospital Center have gone to the ICU as agency nurses and said they got slammed with 2 really sick pts but that was in the old hospital and they were agency.

I have another friend who works at the University and says that parking is either super expensive or not likely.

Bluesky,

Do you work at WHC right now? It seems like agency and travel nurses tend to get screwed quite a bit, doesn't it? I knew several travelers on my old unit who were absolutely miserable. Of course, most people on that unit were miserable ;)

Hi, GWUH built a brand new hospital a few years ago so they have a lot of new technology. I worked in the ICU and my complaint is the unit is sooo big and they unit is long that you run up and down the hallways a lot. But I guess it depends on what unit you work on. They're 10 feet from Foggy Bottom metro stop. So thats convenient.

Your only complaint is running down a long hall?

I have an interview there next Friday for the ICU dept. I have another one for the ER in March. They are both new grad positions for their new grad internship. Has anybody done their new grad internship? And if so, which dept. do you prefer? Any help would be appreciated.
